Hey. Assuming none of those corals were enhanced with special lighting.....holy crap :eek2: Those are very nice. I love these:

Bad assumption!

Why do you say that? It's not an uncommon thing with Japanese tanks to have special colored lighting directed at certain corals/areas to enhance color.

If that is how you meant it....:)

WOW! check this out! He's using "vinyl chloride board" and now this piece is growing underneath:

"Because the vinyl chloride board of white is being inserted under the tank, reflected light is strong, has shown color cleanly to reverse side of the coral. If the princess turban shell is inserted 2 - 3, eating the moss, always it guarantees reflected light. "

Just to let you guys know.. if you read into these tanks.. they are trying to mimic the reef. Yes they are using red lights because some of those corals were caught from shallow reefs. Makes sense? Something no one has caught on over here (zero availability).

I was just fixing to post something about that :) You can see the red light on the rocks/bottom in this picture:

Wow! this is great! Another reflected coral.. he states that its not brown underneath because of the board:

"With the faint green, because the white vinyl chloride board is being inserted under the tank, it shows color color to the reverse side with reflected light. Normally the reverse side it continues to be brown. When the bottom sand is not inserted, by all means we want using the vinyl chloride board of white. Raising especially is not difficult. The polyp first was brown, but several years while passing, it became the green."

invincible569,

You have way to much time on your hands ;) .

Great pictures. I like the set that are all corals and zero live rock. That would be intersting to do. You know a 100 gallon tank and a 300 gallon sump to hold your live rock.

The top tank is not using Live Rock either.. he calls it white earth coral rock. Seems like this tank has been up for 7 yrs. One of his corals is this old. some are 3, and so on. No LR, No LS, nice.

i cant tell if the board is under the tank or over? As stated before in other threads, the Japanese do not believe in coralline algae. These are perfect examples.

i have a question. where does their flow come from, i havent seen a powerhead or anything else that would move water around! maybe i just missed them
just an observation

Hi,

Nice setups makes me wanna go clean all my corraline off!

So what would these red lamps be that they use ?
