beer thread

Just drank some Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Might I say Capt. that it is very tasty. Also got some DFH Indian Brown Ale and it is pretty good, nice and creamy. Also picked up some samuel smith that I am going to try tonight. I'll let you know hoe it goes.

Ooh Samuel Smiths.....which recipie?? They've got some tasty stuff for sure!

Glad you liked the Torpedo. The Weg's has been out of it for a month now....

Cully, which Weggies are you going to? Because I was at the one in DeWitt maybe Tuesday? and they had 12 packs of it all over the place.....

I decided to go nice and light in the hopes of hurrying the warm weather along, lol, and tried Long Trail's Pollenator....pretty good for a nice, light, refreshing beer.

I'm hoping, since it's my birthday today, that The J Man takes me out somewhere nice where I can try a few new beers :D Any suggestions????

Over on the west side. Fairmount. I can get it at some local Mom n Pop shops, but it's an extra step..... My vice apparently has it's boundaries.

BTW, Vince, thank Walter, he's the one who turned me on to it. I just drive the band wagon now.

perhaps of some interest:

perhaps of some interest:

from the Sierra Nevada website (which is as good as their beers):
"Our obsession with harnessing huge hop flavor led to the development of what we call the hop torpedo, a revolutionary method of dry-hopping designed, built, and debuted here at the brewery. Our torpedo is a sleek, stainless-steel piece of hardware that delivers more pure hop aroma than any method of dry-hopping we’ve ever seen."

So the "Torpedo" is a piece of equipment they named an ale after.

Still looking for Hoptimum here. Anybody try Bigfoot?

Gary, I wouldn't really get upset if you can't find the hoptimum. I had really high hopes for it. I really didn't care for it at alllllll. Alot of reviews I have read were pretty terrible too.

thanx for the tip

thanx for the tip

who wants a clunker when they could have gotten something good?

Although I liked 'Glissade' I'll probably never purchase it again.
The same with Sam Adams Noble Pils.

I'd rather have Torpedoes or IPA48.

wish you were here

wish you were here

yeah yeah.... Pink Floyd

anyhoot, I'm killing off a growler of 'Facelift' by Gardner Ale House (Gardner, MA). Bro of guy that I work with owns the brewery. Excellent stuff. Not as hoppy as Torpedo but very good. Maybe better.....

Grabbed a 4 pack of Brooklyn Dark Chocolate Stout to try out tonight. I love my porters and stouts.

I really like the Brooklyn dark chocolate stout. I'm going to be in long island for about a week and were going to go visit the brewery.

4 drinks and I'm done. Doesn't help my brother in laws house is 80 degrees. I keep mine around 70.

Capt. the samual smiths i had weren't that good. It was the IPA and oatmeal stout. They weren't very flavorful to me. I've got a nut brown from them for tonight but I'm not to excited as the first 2 were ehhh.

Walter thank you for the torpedo reference. It is my new go to beer.

The Brooklyn Chocolate stout wasnt bad, but it doesnt compare with Youngs luxury double chocolate stout.

FINALLY! Torpedo back at the Weg. Too bad I'm on call, gotta stare at it until tomorrow. Feel better just having some near me. :inlove:

That sucks not being able to drink when on call. I am on call half the year for IT support for local public safety, doesn't stop me from drinking, if I really need to get to work I will have them send a cop to pick me up.

We toured VT this weekend and hit Harpoon, Long Trail, and Otter Creek. Great tour at Harpoon and they had a ton of beers to sample including there Leviathan Barleywine, IIPA, and Belgian Quad. They had a West Coast Oak Aged Cask at tee bar that was out of this world too!! Snagged a six pack of their Summer Beer off it's first day of production still cold from the brite tanks. Long Trail had their Brewmaster series Triple Bag, yes Tripple IPA Gary & Cully!! Otter Creek and Wolavers Organic had a great set of beers too and their one of the few who put out a solid Black IPA and we picked a growler of the Wolavers Oatmeal Stout and some of their Coffee Porter done with locally roasted coffee. We did The Alchemist in Burlington for lunch which is a great little brew pub and had a full gamut of beers including a Cherry Sour. Dinner was at Das Bierhaus where we had Wiener Schnitzel and Rauchwurst with some of the freshest Schneider Weisse Aventinus, Hefe, as well as some Franziskaner Dunkel.
