Putting in a plug here for Saranac's 12 beers of winter:

I'm a huge fan of five (out of six) of these beers. The Big Moose Ale is alright, but my least favorite.

12 pack was around $14 at the local grocery.

I tried Sapporo for the first time...I felt like I just spent $10 on a heady Coors Light.

No offense Coors Light fans

I wasn't really a big fan when I tried it either. It certainly wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.

If you like sushi and ever find yourself in the VA/DC area....

They also have meat that you bbq at your table...

It is an all you can eat Korean buffet. Includes Sushi, shrimp, a few different kinds of meat, crawfish (I think), fruit, rice (of course) etc. The picture of the sushi isn't even every kind they have. I grabbed one of each kind, but they had another 5 or 10 kinds. The only problem is that you don't know what each kind is.

Does this place happen to have a name?

On a beer side note I've got a Stone Brewing Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout fermenting away that tasted phenomenal when I transferred it to secondary this past weekend.

The Korean BBQ place is called Il Mee (Pronounced "Eel May" I think). It's in Annandale, Va.

How long are you planning on letting it sit in Secondary Walter?

korean sushi? that's some funny chit. japan slaughtered koreans in epic numbers. it would be similar to ordering brats and hassenfeffer from a jewish deli. seoul garden in roc used to have authentic korean food. i haven't been in a couple of years. skip korean beer, try some rice wine or soju.

The Seoul Garden is alright. It doesn't even come close to homemade Korean food though. I make a mean bulgogi!

i hear ya on the homemade. i lived there for a year. i haven't had good bulgogi in a while. kagogi was pretty darn good when i didn't know what i was eating :lolspin:

hahahaha, my wife likes kalbi the best. My cousin married a Korean man. His whole family is from Korea and that is what his family eats 95% of the time. So my cousin has picked up how to cook up a whole bunch of different Korean food. I always enjoy going to their house!

Holy cow folks...I've a feeling we have some decent chefs in our club....we ought to do a pot luck Asian cuisine/beer tastings "get-together!"
