Bicolor blenny= NOT REEF SAFE

Added a bicolor blenny last week. Over the last two days I have noticed some white spots on 2 of my acro frags. Both torts, myagi and Cali. Thought some how I ended up with acropora eating flatworms.

After watching the tank for a few hours this evening I noticed I ended up with an acropora eating blenny.

The two pieces he is messing with are close to his "home". He hasn't bothered the stylo close by or some of the other acro frags around the other end of the tank.

Frags he hasn't touched
yellow tort
Purple stag
Steve Elias
Pearlberry
Lime in the sky.

After my researching, plenty of others had issues with bicolors and other similar blennys and there corals/clams. Not all, but enough to keep me from getting one. I decided to get a midas, even though they're twice the price.

If you like the corals, you'll probably have to pull the blenny.

Oh boy! I just got one and I have one lil Birds Nest frag...so far so good but now I'm on the watch.

My GF's bicolor LOVES Stylos. Leaves plating and encrusting montis along with softies and LPS alone.

My Tailspot is a model citizen.

On the way back to lfs with my bicolor. Shortly after I got him I noticed my pokerstar and other montis looked like crap. Finally got an hour to really watch the tank and discovered him mauling all my sps.

Such a bummer as it's a great looking fish.

I have been keeping Bicolor Blennies for decades. I have had a couple that have picked at clams. The rest are just very entertaining.

At the moment I have a Bicolor and a trio of tailspots with every kind of coral (and clam) imaginable with no issues.

They aren't all bad seeds.

I wish I could've said the same. It quickly became one of my favorite fish and he was a gorgeous specimen. I'm planning on replacing him with a midas.

The nice thing about them is that they're easy to catch, IF, the rock that they sleep in can be removed without destroying your tank. I chased mine around enough for him to retreat to his hide hole/bedroom and simply placed the entire rock in a big net.
