Im thinking about buying a few baby black ocellaris from a local breeder. They are 1/2" long and all black, without any orange. I want them to stay all black. Do black clowns develop orange on their faces later in life, or will these all black babies stay all black?

Thanks.

If they are all black now they should stay black, but also depending on lighting and some anemones they could be with. Diet can also make a difference.

Black ocellaris start out with orange faces that fill in with black as they mature. They don't go from black to orange.

I have the kind that lazytaper mentioned, but I have seen juveniles that don't have the orange nose. I really don't know much about them, but I have never heard of them losing black. In addition to losing the orange noses, the bodies of black ocellaris will usually darken as they grow. So normally they will change from a brownish color, to more of a true black, which I have never heard of them losing.
Is there any way you could get a picture?
