I know they like to play dead but for how long is it coz the tank is dark and no light. Anything that i have to worry about here. Also tried them feedind nori and brine shrimp with garlic.

Note: Water is taken from DT

You have 3 blue tangs? how big is your DT & QT?

I been in the hobby 2 years I still cannot keep one. then again I stopped trying after my 3rd one.

I got them 3days ago and have them on QT which is 10G and painted the tank black. just worried coz they are not eating and just laying down. On 2nd day i added 20drops of cuparmine and got .5mg. today i did 80% water change still laying down. kind a worried. do they lay down if its dark environment.

Is there any water movement in qt? Try to feed them PE mysis, pellets, try putting food in garlic or selcon.

Something to attract them to the food.

I got a airstone adn i did try adding garlic yet no attempt maybe they cannot bare cuparmine dosage which i added. They do swim and move around but in laying down posture.

I may have went with a lower salt level. I dont know bud hope for the best maybe they will act different later on or something. Like I said I never had luck with them. Keep adding food if they get hungry enough they will eat.

How did you acclimate them? What was the SG of the water at the LFS? I typically wait until the fish is eating well before I start copper treatment (or any treatment for that matter).

since i took the water from DT where the salt level is 1.026 and my DT is 120gallon

Many LFS run their fish systems at low salinity levels - sometimes as low as 1.015. If you did not acclimate to 1.026 then that could be your problem.

BTW, a DT of 120 will quickly become too small for Hippos, particularly if you have more than one.

I am pretty sure fish do not play dead. To me this seems like it may have been the problem. If there's no light fish don't usually swim around and I have never seen one feed while lights are out.

I was a bit worried and din't want to loose them so i transferred them to DT still hiding let's see what they do and how long will they live.will update accordingly.

You may have created bigger problems for yourself if these fish are carrying parasites. Hope things work out.

Yeah, Hippos are about the last fish I'd skimp on QT with - ok, maybe an Achilles, but not too many others.

Well they shouldn't coz as i got them i treated them with cuparmine and then i removed the same by removing the water and adding DT water everyday. yesterday i took some DT water in a bowl and removed the fish with my hands and transferred them to the bowl and did not add the bowl water to my DT. The colour of the fish is good and bright no signs of ich as of now. I will add some carbon tomorrow to my sump.

Unless you treated them with cupramine for at least 21 days, there's no guarantee you have eliminated all parasites. The average life cycle for Cryptocaryon is 1-2 weeks, but can vary greatly. I always treat for 4 weeks to shift the odds in my favor. Just because the fish is not showing spots doesn't mean it is cured.

Three days of cupramine isn't likely to have done much, but perhaps you will be lucky. I wish there was a 3 day treatment. I hold all new fish in QT for 8 - 12 weeks and the whole thing does get a bit tedious.

I truly agree with all of you. What i did was i treated cuparmine to fish which was perfectly alright. I will add carbon today by sachem matrix carbon in a nylon sock . just wondering where exactly is need to place in my sump.

1st part is sponge beneath it is bio balls

2nd part skimmer

3rd part miracle mud

lastly return pump

wonder where is that sweet spot to place the carbon in sock
