Bonsai Tree inspired Aquascape

WOW! Crazy's tank inspired me to get into the Hobby (not joking) and the bonsai inspired tank you just pulled off Northbay-Reefer is just plain awesome!

Crazy, did you ever guess you would have such an influence

Thanks a lot guys, once I have the tank cleaned up I'll take new pictures. Am still trying to figure out my cannon rebel camera :D

The tank flow is much better than before, my old tank was full of rock and is overgrown with sps so I had to continually trimming it, I can't even clean the sand, and keep the tank as clean as I should so eventually it has some problems. Now I have space to clean.

Reefrider, I am glad that you have found a new addiction ...lol :D

Reefrider hahah am not trying to talk you out of it ... but it does take a huge commitment if you want to do it right ... otherwise you will be wasting a lot of money ... we wouldn't want you to do that do we? :D :D

you know how to use camera? ... coolnessss yeah please help me :D :D I want to do a full tank shot clearer than the pix that I posted ... if you know the setting please help.

my setting is manual, raw mode, apt 6.7 auto white balancing, no flash, iso 100, and am using tripot, lense just the regular 35mm 50 .. i do have a macro lense and a telephoto .. TIA

So that's what I have been doing with my money......sheesh, if I had only known....hehe! In order not to jack the thread, I'll pm you tomorrow..I shoot for a living.

I've posted this already in a few relevant threads but since this one was one of my biggest influences here we go. I'm not saying mine is 100% bonsai but it's get some elements =)

WOW!!!! great job guys!!!! Lastlight you have some nice platforms for your corals and will look natural as they fill in. Northbay-reefer your aquascape is awesome, and looks like a giant playground for your fishes, see if you can clean up the back wall and place a dark background. It will show off your caves and arches more and make your aquascape pop.

Guys the sand gets vacuumed with a gravel cleaner at every water change monthly. Tank gets topped off with new sand 8-12 months to replenish whatever gets lost during water changes. Carbon Dosing also aids in keeping my sand white.

how about under those ledges, do you just try to move the sand or do you only vacuum the open areas.

eventually, i plan on doing a penninsula tank & have been following this thread for quite awhile for inspiration on doing the aquascape....which i think is the best route on a 3-side viewable tank :)

I try to get as much as i can under there, but i don't stress it if i don't get them all.

looks on the 1st page you run a moderately shallow sandbed??? about how deep (if i missed it being posted previously)?

Id say about an 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

Thank you, yeah the fishies loves to swim around now instead of hiding all of the time. Thanks for your inspiration, I though about your rock work while working on mine :D My buddies from different local reef clubs just set me up with about 40 free frags of rare sps and lps so it is starting to look like Christmas ... LOL

I was finally able to find a pendant similar to yours to place over my 36" cube. I purchased a Hamilton Cozumel Sun pendant with 400w bulb.

I'd like your advice in placement. Could you measure for me the distance from the bottom edge of your pendant to the water line in your reef?

Thanks in advance.

Sure, i measured 8 inches from bottom of fixture to waterline.
