Hello,

I have a Bubble King Mini 180 that has been sitting in my garage for a few years now. It was being used on a 92 gallon Corner before I broke it down. I am going to be using this on a 200 gallon system - its a 160 gallon display and 40 gallon sump.

Do you believe I will see a significant increase in Performance if I changed to a different skimmer? I am considering these.

-Nyos Quantum 160 Protein Skimmer
-Deltec SC 1455
-Life Reef SVS2-24 in-sump skimmer. I have a new Eheim 1252 I can use for the pump.

Please let me know what you think.

As Solitude said, if your load is low to medium, you will be just fine with that on a 160g display. It's well within the skimmers ratings as that skimmer is rated to 200 gallons. FWIW, properly rated skimmers should be based on display size and not system volume. Our sumps and refugiums don't contribute to the load. They contribute to the load reduction/nutrient export. Thus why I always suggest basing BK skimmer sizing on the display size as opposed to overall system volume. The bubble Kings are underrated too.

I plan on taking this build slow and stocking it on the medium side. Thanks for that information Slief. I was looking at the ratings the wrong way, I always considered the entire system volume and not the display.

I am going to stick with the BK.
