I hope someone can help me figure out what is causing a noise my Mini 200 keeps making.
It seems like the pump is making a kind of rattling/humming noise, i put my finger on the air inlet for less then a second and it goes away, then it comes back after a little while. Any ideas? Skimmer is very clean and was just started up less then a month ago in my new tank.
Any help is appreciated!!

Maybe he is the guy who sold me the skimmer!
I'll take it apart and make sure all is well with needle wheel.

No he was in California. How much do you think a new pump and needle wheel would cost for 2nd gen Mini 200 which I believe is the 1500?

I'd suggest closly inspecting the needle wheel assembly. I'd think if anything was an issue it would be that and not the motor block. From your descrpition of the issue, it sounds like a shell or something is caught in the pump but I am sure you already checked that. Maybe the magnet is slipping on the impeller shaft. If I were, I'd purchase an impeller and see of that fixes the issue.

You could buy a laguna 1500 I replaced mine with it, its the same pump,....I also have the mini 200..
All I had to do was remove the white base from the ask old and glue it to the laguna, everything else is plug and play literally it's the same pump...after that I never had any problems with it...

Hello fellow BK owners, I accidentally dropped my BK mini 180 pump while servicing it and broke the volute (white), my pump is the RD 1000 with the black impeller w/metal shaft. The motor block and impeller seem ok but I need the impeller housing. I texted Jeremy at Premium Aquatics but he had to order it, not a stocking item.
I was wondering if anyone here had one I could buy or borrow in the meantime. I need to run the skimmer before its to late for my tank, temporarily running my old octopus skimmer.

Jermey is that true the Proline is pulling away from Royal exclusive. I friend of mine has a new 250 and they told him that it was going to charge him 100 euro's to get a impeller for a 7 moth old 250 skimmer.

Proline no longer deals with royal exclusiv.
So if you plan on getting one and you ever need any kind of part, prepared to get raped.
They're trying to charge me 100 euros to ship an impeller from Germany go Edmonton. And they won't honor warranty on an 8 month old pump

Yup, and they havent been for some time. I ordered my pump directly through RE's site. Actually arrived in only a few days from Germany. Unfortunately you need to do a bank transfer to their account, so it's a little more work, but I was very happy with the outcome and my BK is back to kickin muck.

Why? It´s getting very difficult to buy replacement parts, I just got some stuff from Proline and I´m waiting to arrive in Brazil
We are now stocking replacement parts for the skimmers. If we happen to not have it in stock we can always order it in for you and get it here very quickly. I'm actually placing a parts order with Royal Exclusiv right now, so if anyone would happen to need anything please let me know asap.
Yes, both are in stock and ready to ship. All of our inventory now is Gen 3 / VS '12.

sigh, just measured my custom sump, the skimmer section was made too small, at the time I told the guys that I will be using the super reef octo spacer saver version which has a footprint of 10X9.5. And they were so good that they made the skimmer section just big enough to fit that, not any bigger! DANG IT!!
The section is 12X10, and the BK minis are 12X11... FML
