Looks like your purple tang has been salt shakered. Tangs are so scary cause of that.DOnt worry too much, my coral beauty had it too and he got over it pretty quick once he started eating well.

Hi Chris...

Thanks...i got lucky to get a pretty good looking one...a 5 inch specimen.
Hmm better to remove your clam before you do the DT treatment,,,.would be better off if ya isolate your refugium and put him in there,,,,

Well Chris...the purple guy has been feeding fine and has been in the tank since 10/15/2011 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2022954&page=14

Doesnt show ne signs of illhealth besides a few frayed fins when i got him...but its been looking ok and he has gotton over his initial timidness and is more out and open.
Both the purple and yellow tang were together in a fellow hobbyists tank for about 2 years and i bought it from him :)

you get a shrimp for your goby?

Nope havent....i am still waiting to get an estabilished pair (goby+shrimp) collected together. Its in the pipeline though :spin2:

Im unable to move the clam, he has securely planted his foot literally where the sun dont shine! I think hed be a gonner if I tried to pry him out. His chances are better with the treatment unless I can get him to loosen enough to razor him out. I doubt it but ill try. For sure gonna isolate the fuge. All I see is death in my near future...boo, its har to sacrifice some lives for the health of others. Must suck to be a president or emporer.

Nup,
Wow, I don't come for a while and look how your thread has advanced!

Congrats on the new additions! Is that a Crocea Clam? beautiful!
Also, the tang looks great and healthy.

Keep up the great work as always :)

Well Brett...who said you arent cool?
Guys with Tunze are cool....just that guys with Vortech are cooler :beachbum:

Peace...juz kidding!! Guess it doesnt matter what you have, it all comes down on how you use it... no pun intended :spin3:

Cheers
I Guess I must be ultra cool since I have both:smokin:
Nice livestock update btw RN, I'm seriously considering relocating my Multicolor Angel just so I can have a clam:(

Yo Chris...
Hmm if its embedded already then not a good idea to move it...but there are ways you can separate it carefully..."carefully" being the key word here!
Salvage whatever ya can bro...
Iv noticed one thing is that the pod population kinda slowly start to disapear when ya start carbon dosing...just what iv noticed in my tank....but not sure if thats the norm in an ULNS?

Hey Juan  always a pleasure to have ya back here!

And thanks for ya compliments buddy...puts a smile on my face :)
Yes its a Crocea Clam.
Since both tangs had been acclimatized to humans before, thay are doing well and feeding out of the bat :D

Are Multi's such bad boys? Try getting a clam...see what he does...then if he gonna violate the clam...relocate the clam :crazy1: Is that a better idea or no?

Ooops sorry Brett!:D At least you're close enough I can share my standing wave with ya if you make the trip!:lol2:

RN the multicolor has already violated my orange sea whip:headwallblue:
I'd give it a go on a nice maxima but I'd hate to acquire something only to turn around and get rid of it, but it never hurts to try:)

Anybody using this? Good or OK or Bad?
I was using API Carbon till now...got this for a change...

Looks like standard pellet-sized carbon to me don't see why it wouldn't work, I prefer carbon that is 'cleaner' with less fines. Something to note when you open the package, if you haven't already.:)

Opened...it is :)
The thing i dint like about API carbon was it had lots of dust and water gets jet black till the dust settles....i hope this ones better in that regard....
