Building out a Red Sea Nano

Started a new project with the 3D printer. MP10 anemone guards. Made three so I ordered three MP10s. Most likely will have them dialed back for this aquarium but should give enough random flow for about anything to grow.

From what I’ve read antisync Reefcrest mode is the way to go. Plan is to have two on the back pushing back and forth and one on the side glass to give a little extra random current.

They are roughly the same price too. I wonder if while shopping Amazon recommended the smaller and all I saw was a drop in price without realizing there was a size difference.

Finally had some time to tackle this project.

Found out after installing these acrylic rods that they don’t seal with the recommended bulkheads and can’t be used. Went back to write a review on BRS and turns out this is a well known issue even though they promote it in their video. Substituted out for flex tubing and guess that’ll have to do.

Totally took me like 10 minutes to figure out what that was lol

Ah fancy smancy dosing container parts. That's why I have no clue. Meet the vinegar containers. 😛

Originally I looked at just doing aqua forest components which would last half a year. Tank not even stocked yet and chewing through at 45 days so I figured I’d just reuse the containers. I like the ingenuity you have going there. Debated using old gallon vinegar jugs. Probably just use jugs like these to mix the solutions.

I have the same temptation with AFR because of all the positive results (plus I think Tropic Marin is a legit co.) but just can't justify the long term cost. Maybe if I ever set up a nano again.

Three MP10s in and set on antisync lagoon at low settings. Nice water movement. Everything seems happy and tank parameters stable.

I made a switch from vinegar in my ATO water to citric acid. Don’t know if there is a noticeable difference but see how tank does over the next year with it.

Put an order in with ReefExclusive for some sps that I’ll be adding in mid February. After that not really sure what is left? Maybe a few more fish? A clam?

Still working on photography. Aquarium at high noon pics have more pink in them than is visible with eyes.

Looking around for some fish ideas for the nano. Probably go with the safe and easy… but… then part of me wants a challenge.

Originally thought this was $60 until checkout.. kind of bummed. Cool fish but out of my price range.

The other one that really stands out is the cold water Catalina Goby.

I know, I know they don’t survive long term because of their low temperature requirements… However even in public aquariums that keep temps at 60 their lifespan average is two years. And I’ve read where people keep temp at 76 with Catalinas living two years. If anyone has any experience with these please chime in! I’m willing to drop my temp 0.5 degrees to accommodate these guys.
