Hey, sorry to hear about your clownfish. Have you checked your sump? I have one false perc that I got with my first batch of live rock from another reefer. The little guy has been with me since day one (Dec. 3, 2005). He has always hosted in a good size leather coral. Even after I added a nice RBTA he showed no interest in it for months. Just last week he decided to start hosting the RBTA! I'm very happy about that. I want to take the leather out of my tank but didn't want to freak him out. Now I don't think it will be a big deal to him when I remove it.
Funny how corals can change color so much huh? I love getting tiny unidentifiable pieces of coral for $5 and just leaving it up to fate how they turn out! I have a couple of those right now that are coming along nicely but still too small to get a decent picture of. But I'll buy just about any SPS for $5 lol.

Great looking tank. I've just ordered myself a Oceanic 156 and plan on creating a stand/hood in a very similar fashion to your own. One question regarding the stain on the outside... can you explain a little more on the way you've finished. Is it just a polyerethene after the stain to waterproof it? And how many coats did you use?
Anyways, looking forward to some new tank pictures, and I'd love some inputs on my own system once i get it started. Thanks!

Hello Chris,
I used 3 coats of stain to achieve the color I wanted on the finish then used regular polyurethane for the protection. I used 3 coats of poly while lightly sanding between each coat.
Hopefully I can get some new pictures this coming week. I'll check out your thread later on tonight or in the morning when I get a bit more time.

Beautiful tank. I just noticed i have the same exact tank as yours that i am still setting up and wanted to get some insight as to the benefit of your Overflow mod (the one where you removed the teeths)? What is the benefit of doing so?
Also did you ever end up buying some Penductors? I am debatting whether to get 4 (.300 orifice) Penductors on a Marlin or one (.375 ofice) on Tarpon with a WavySea.

I can't really tell if cutting the teeth out is benefiting me because I'm only using the panworld 55px-x pump which is really underpowered for this sized tank. I still want to do the penductors but money has been tight as of late, that's why I haven't really added any corals lately.
The benefit of cutting the teeth out is to allow for a higher turnover rate with what the overflows can handle. The line of thought is the 1200 gph figure is what the stock overflow design can handle, not the actual 1" drain.
