Hey guys, well after doing some research it seems like many people are doing this with success. A quick YouTube search will return some videos of much smaller tanks than mine with maroons and percs coexisting. I know it's a gamble, but here is the approach i will take.
First i will build a large acrylic box to house the Maroons for about a week. It will attach to the the tank wall with magnets. I will move it around different areas of the tank, even close to the perc's "home". Hopefully this gives me an idea of their reaction. Finally i will move the box next to the RBTA for a few days before releasing them. IF there is any scrapping, i already have a buyer in line for whichever species i decide to part with. My tank's aquascaping is minimal with pillars so removal will be much easier. I have successfully caught the perc numerous times in the past. I know some will disagree, but please bear in mind that i have a game-plan and will not let ANY of them suffer. Thoughts?
