trying to figure out how to get a carpet anemone to open up and to be healthy. I have tried everything and cant seem to keep him happy. can anyone tell me how much lighting a carpet needs. I have him in a 65 gallon tank with a 3 bulb system 39w a bulb with a orbit marine led 48inch bar. when it was at the store it look great wide open now its all shrivled up

If its deflated it's probably sick. Is the mouth opened up? Ciproflaxin is used to treat sick anems with great results

CHeck your water parameters, especially alkalinity. Good basic parameters are in my sig line.

I really want a nice big carpet. I have alway heard stories that if they die your tank will crash. Is the is true? What challenges will I have with a carpet in a reef tank?

They eat any fish that comes close enough to them besides clowns. They often come in sick and need prompt antibacterial medicine to survive. They move around a lot when first introduced to the tank and will sting anything it touches while moving around. The non green variety cost some $$$

+1 to what Dmorty said, mine were and are all of that aside from being sick. My green one ate a pile of stuff on me and has moved around a lot as well as my gigantic purple haddoni. They bulldoze anything in their way and require a fair amount of attention. I love carpet anemones and always have so I can understand your desire to have one but I also know that they are tough to acclimate. Once acclimated though they are pretty resilient, good luck with it.

If you get it right you'll end up with something like this and this is only a couple day's after I put it in. It's since moved and forced me to completely rearrange the rock work in the center of my tank as well as expand to double the size you see................or not, picture won't upload, I'll keep trying though.
