Chinese LED Lights

AWESOME!!!!!!!! I'm waiting on my 2080. I also have a 40 breeder, so now I'm even more excited about it! Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow! Your rock layout is similar to mine too.
About how high do you have the light? Does it blind you when you stand by it?
Looks Great!!

My lights are about 3 inches from the surface of the water. I wanted them higher to reduce the disco ball effect but my wife didn't like the light spillage when she was sitting near the tank. I may take off the optics to see if that helps but I'm not sure if that would void the warranty. There are two stickers on the screws that say void if removed so I'm not sure.

Thoughts?

My two cents... at 5' you are really pushing the envelope. But you have 2 things in your favor:
1. You can pull some lenses of the end 2 rows of light at either end and get more coverage.
2. It's a FOWLR, so it's not like you need great light everywhere.

I have one D120 over a 4' 55g QT and it's not enough, even with the last 2 rows of lenses removed. But 2 over a 5' should work OK for a FOWLR or even an easy coral tank with some low light stuff out at the ends.

OK, this is just the first pic of the IT2040 over my new tank. It was taken with an android phone which is not great. The water is cloudy because it was just filled about 10 minutes before the pic. The rock is just tossed in and not aquascaped yet.

Removing the optics would make the light spillage worse.

Hello all, been researching for a light for my 40B I'm piecing together. I've read through a good portion of the thread, but before I place an order I want to double check.
I was looking to get the reefbreeder it2060. I'll be keeping mostly lps with with some sps up top. But I am concerned that 1.) the 24" fixture won't be enough spread and my new concern after reading through the post 2.) the more spaced LEDs on the 24" will cause spotlighting and the reds and greens not blending with the whites and blues. Really didn't want to spend the extra $ for the it2080 but its an option. If the24" will work, what is the recommendation on the optics? Any input is appreciated

See if reefbreeders will install 120* optics on the red and green LED's or no optics on those colors. Assume you are going with 90* optics on fixture. EverGrow 's Sunny sugested that approach to spread those colors out. And, if no optics on the R & G LED's have them send you the extra 90* optics seperate so if you ever need them you can install them yourself.

No need. The optics twist off very easily. Just order the fixture as normal and remove them.

I just installed my new Maxspect Razors today. I was anxious to get them up to compare...

It turns out, one unit is DOA. The other unit has a bad power supply.

I took the good power supply and good light, hooked them up, and it looks... good. That's the thing though, for $494, it should look awesome. I think it needs time to break in, but I'm sorely missing having a few reds right now. Personally, I like the look from my custom IT light better. I like the controller on the IT lights better too, aside from its inability to smoothly ramp up/down like the Razor. The included leg mounts sit way too low to the tank too, causing spotlighting.

Luckily I can return the doa unit and power supply, but I'm disappointed right now. IT lights all the way until something better and just as affordable comes along.

Anyone know what this layout is?

channel 1; 16 7500k cool whites, 8 3500k warm whites 4 480nm blues, 4 520nm greens, 4 630nm red, 4 660nm reds, and 4 410-420nm violets. Channel 2; 48 450nm royal blue, Channel 3; 3 480nm blue moonlights, for a total of 99 3 watt LEDs

Lots of blue
