The moonlights come on under 10% on the channel they are on
thanks everyone for contributing to this thread. Very informative. bhazard, good to see you finally got those razors going, I was really interested to hear your thoughts on it.
Now I want to see some people's growth pictures under these lights!! I think I'll hang on the fence for a while to see the verdict.
There is all these folks who say they've never seen growth for SPS on LED. There are plenty of accounts. There are many threads right on this forum if you look around of people successful with radions, AIs, orpheks, and even DIY. There might even be a thread for Chinese LED growth pics....I need to search it still.
Interestingly, my LEDs were DIY'ed by a local guy about 3 years ago. Cool whites, blues and a couple reds. I have 242 watts of 3 watt LEDs. My PAR at the water level directly under these lights is less than 300. At the sand it's less than 50 (24" deep 90g tank). Things have come a long way! With these lights, I can get less light intense SPS like birdsnest and green montipora to grow just fine.
When you change out leds on the evergrow lights do you use thermal paste ?[/QUOTE
Lena says yes.
I had a good Acro mille example of growth pics under these with my cube in this thread or the old one. Unfortunately, when I moved it to my new 125g setup, the system wasn't ready for it and it bleached.
AMAZINGLY enough though, it just started re-growing polyps! I may take pics of it to show regeneration over the next few months. I also have a green staghorn I just put in that is doing well.
As far as the Razors go, I like them, but I don't see them as a permanent replacement to the IT lights. I have the ability to modify leds at will with the ITs, with the razors, I don't. I wasn't 100% happy with the look of the 16k. My acrylic PAR measuring stick wasn't ready yet, and one of the units was DOA.
Here's hoping we'll get a side by side comparison someday....hint hint.
