I just opened my IT2040 from ReefBreeders. All I did was take it out, plug it in, and turn it on. No tank yet, so pics or anything are quite useless at the moment. All I can say is this thing is bright!!!

I have the tank, rocks, sand, and water ready to go. All I need now is the stand and I will be setting up in the next week or so. Once this is done, you will be able to see it in a new pristine tank!!!

Alot of ours from reef breeders are taking long because we pre ordered them (the it2060 and the it2080) if you ordered the valve fixture or the it2040 then you got them quick because they were already in stock or had ordered those units before but the newer itseries hadn't even been sent to them from evergrow As a sample unit yet so when I ordered mine in like early November they said I should have had then 2nd week of decemeber but its been pushed back a bunch so now I should be getting mine more like 2nd week of Jan maybe first I hope

What level is every one running there lights at I've got an it1020 running 40%blue and 30% white at the max. It's on a 52g corner tank and my devils hand leather is completely bleached out. And my large ricordia is not looking so hot either. Every things on the bottom of the tank

The corals you mentioned are "low light" corals. Acclimation should begin at 20 -25%. Turn down the intensity or raise the unit. Increase the intensity by 5% monthly.

Does anyone know the par for 120 optics of the IT fixtures vs the 90 optics over a 20" tall tank? I have the 90 optics right now on the the 2040 fixture and am getting shades all around so wanted to try out the 120 optics.

I'd agree with bhazard on the drop. From my old D120 with 120 degree leds (no optics) to the IT2040 with 90 degree lenses my PAR went from 250-275 up to 325-350. And I'm going to need to move the light out from the wall to get it over the center of the tank. The old D120 was fine, but the new IT2040 in the same place leaves the front 6-8" of sand in the shadows. My first reaction was, WOW this isn't as bright as my old D120. But then I checked the PAR to see just how bad it was and the PAR numbers were up 75-100. What a relief that was! :thumbsup:

Can anyone with a par meter get numbers at a 13" with 60% blues and 30% whites on the it2040? Id appreciate it greatly!

I just recieved my D120 with 90degree leds and have been using it over a 20L for a month. i installed some 90 degree optics even though the leds are 90 degree to reduce the spillage(so i can look in the tank without getting blinded). i run the blues at 80% and the whites at 40-50%. i had a couple small frags on monti bleach but most had already been under a 250w halided only 6" above the water. I am getting some awesome colors and great growth. plus i have noticed the couple of small spots of hair algea i had have slowed down growth wise compared to the halide. so far im digin the fixture. wish i had a par meter.

i wish these fixtures had a 3rd channel for the green/red/UV. if i order another one i will only do 1 red/1 green. at 100% its almost too pink looking

When the D120 used 120* angle LED 's that was correct, but now Sunny says they are all 90* LED angle so you would have a 90* spread. Confirm that with her directly and any other questions. We never talked to her about the new IT series fixtures which might use a different LED and optics now.

As to Aliexpress she works through that site and that should be fine, however, as a group buy we went via email to her at EverGrow sales. Not sure if there is any real difference on individule fixture pricing.

I don't think that their D 120's come with 90° LEDs. I bought and received two of them. I wanted to see how they would look on my 125gl, one on each end. With the blues on 100%, the whites on 10% they were ok. If I turn the whites up anymore the tank looked washed out. So I bought the third one and 12 RB LEDs. I had them shipped along with the third light. I took out the red and green and replaced with the RB. All three lights came with 90° optics and and the 12 I ordered also came with optics. I ordered them from Lena. My tank never looked so good and some of the corals look happier. We'll see how they look six months from now. I received the third one on the 29th. I don't know why Sonny would tell you that. Maybe we are just getting what is left of old models and the new ones have 90° LEDs.

Do you have a roll of solder you can try it on? It says 450C, but is it really that hot? That's about 850F right? That's really hot. I haven't tried doing any on mine yet so I'm interested in what other will have to say as well. There is a chart that may help at this link:

I have a 35w and I couldn't do diddly squat with it. The tip looked like a piece of charcoal. I polished it all back to the copper color and made a flat spot on the tip. Melted in less than three seconds. I don't know why but every 2 LEDs I had clean the flat spot. Oh I used a honing stone.

I just did the test on mine and got a 290-310 range. Now remember the Apogee PAR meter reads 450nm blue about 10% low and other nearby blues a bit less low. And my IT2040 is 3:2 blue to white. So the best guesstimate is a real PAR of 300-325. I hope that helps? :beer:

It is my understanding that the LEDs themselves are 120 degrees. Get it with the 90 degree lenses and you can make adjustments from there. My guess is that you will have some at 90 and some at 120.

I got mine yesterday. I have no tank setup, but this thing is blindingly bright at 100%. All I did was plug it in to test it.

again, thank you kindly! I'm trying to get enough par to eventually support clams on the sand bed. now that ive got a base to work off of, ill be working up to that point. Since im at 10.5-11" ill be around 65 blues, 30 whites when im done ramping up

You need to ask RB (and report back here :thumbsup what they say. The latest word from EG is that they are now using 90 degree Bridgelux leds, not the old 120 degree leds. So why did they let me pay for 90 degree lenses if the led is already 90 degrees? It doesn't make much sense. I just got my lights and I haven't tried pulling any lenses off to see if it makes a difference.

Your tank is 18" front to back, so 90's will cover that. With 2 IT2040's you can cover 48" in length as well. I'd start by only taking the lenses off the odd color leds (red, green, UV, violet) so they don't spotlight and so their color can spread over a wider area.

Getting my IT2080's into my canopy was way easier than I thought it would be. And more importantly, they look way better than I thought they would. I set them at 80% blue and 60% white for the picture below, then I dialed them down. They don't have much purple tint to them at all. They look a lot better than the IT2040 over the nem tank. But Elaine, my wife, says she thinks the purple tint is due to the fact that everything in the tank is mostly purple. There's a ton of coraline algae on 3 glass sides and all over the rocks, there is a fair amount of purple macro algae and I hate to admit it, but there is a bit of purple cyano that bloomed a few weeks ago but id dying back now.
