Chinese LED Lights

Thanks Ron. I guess the 2040 would be the way to go with more light concentrated toward the center. Getting the 120 lenses also makes sense. I will shoot them an email and I did ask at the Reefbreeders forum also about the power cords. Would be great to not have cords strung out all over the place.

Finally upgraded my 4ft Fluval Deep Duo to led!

Finally upgraded my 4ft Fluval Deep Duo to led!

Used 2 x D120's (the Evergrow multi spectrum xmas offer)::dance:

How do you add piccys??!

Yea ill post hanging pics later no problem ...

I use photo bucket to lost pics ... I have the app on my phone so all I do is send the pic right to photo bucket open the app on my phone then click on which pic you want to load hit menu and click view links and then copy the IMG CODE then you just simply paste that link in your post here and when you post it it shows the image not the link

Looking good Travis. Could you take a picture of how you hung them?

I just used the 4 holes that were already in the top of my canopy where the old MH was hung. I pulled the old hangers and pushed 2 of the IT2080 wire loops up thru each hole. Then put the 'D' clip thru the loops on the top. They lay down flat and unless you are 6'8" tall, you can't see them.

Tank looks good Travis! As Travis stated the whites are super bright. I have the same issue and run my blues 30-35% stronger than white to get the color I like. Also just an update corals are holding color and so e are coloring up better. SPS are growing good also will update with comparison pics in about two weeks to show a 1 month comparison with LED.

Travis, Tank looks great. You can always solder in more blue until you're 100% happy. You'll lose the ability to have a completely white channel, but there are already colors on it anyway.

Liam, that's a cool mod and the tank looks great too. Use photobucket to upload pics, and paste the contents of the IMG box next to the picture into your posts to show pics better.

Mine are shipping Friday.

looking on getting back to the hobby. i am planning on setting up a 40g sps breader and goin led. What would be the best fixture there is for the $$. Seems every online vendor sells led but not sure witch is good or bad.

Welcome back to the insane asylum!

Asking around here will probably get you answers of an EverGrow (also sold by Reef Breeders) D120 or IT2040. I just got 2 D120's, an IT2040 and 2 IT2080's and after 3+ weeks they work as well as I could have hoped. There are other lights that are about as good, like EcoTech's Radion or AI Sol, but they cost considerably more.

My Radion Pro was shipped out today, and my IT2080s will ship out this weekend. Each will be hung on separate sides of the tank in comparison, and I'll probably post PAR numbers eventually. They will also determine the final layout of my DIY light and what leds I use.

Keep in mind, 2 IT2080s over a 125 gallon 72" with group buy pricing, costs around the same as the materials for my DIY light. The main difference is that I use Cree, Luxeon, and Semiled LEDs, and have Radion type control. The only other fixture that comes close in price is the Razor.

Subscribed for that. I'd like to see those numbers.

Get this, the lights were actually shipped yesterday. I'm going to have them from Hong Kong way before I get the Radion that shipped yesterday from California. That's just awesome.

Its crazy to me how strong the whites are and how bright these units are! I wanted to see where I needed to be to be what I feel is a close a 20k look so at about 100%blue and 40% white im around where i like and you can just see how intense and bright it is there but since I'm not running them at 100 percent since I just got them on I did 60%blue and 20% white and that's also like a 20k look and its PLENTY bright still ...

Once again I will advise to anyone wanting a 18-20k look to go with a 3 blue to 1 white ratio ... that's if you use a mix of whites with some 3500 and 7500 but if your going with lots of 10-12k whites I'd go with more of a 2.5 blues to 1 white ratio ...

If I was to do it over I'd deff do this to be closer to my 18-20k goal

30 royal blues
10 whites( 6 75k, 2 12k, 2 35k)
4 violets
2 reds
2 greens
3 moons ( 460 or 470nm I believe)

Even with that ratio I believe you'd have to run it at 100% blues and 70% whites at most ... I dont think these lights need to be that high ESP with optics so I think 80% blue and either 50 or 60% whites would do the trick also

That's the beauty of these lights though even if its not what ya wanted you can tweak it to your liking ... its pretty amazing

So far I love these lights

Do not under estimate the whites I know 30 blues and 10 whites sounds scarey on paper but if your looking for 20k look that's what you will need to be even close to it
