They aren't on stars, they are on legs. The easiest way to tell, is that the fatter leg is - I believe. They are in series.

You can check the direction of the diode with a multimeter. If you put the leads on and get a low resistance then the red lead is +. If you swap the leads and get a higher resistance then the red lead is -. I hope this makes sense.

yes, also there is an obvious (-) marking on that leg. bad picture but you can still make it out.

We clearly label all of the LEDs with a spectrum, and + and - sides, and put thermal paste on the bottom. The - on the leg is how we ID them pre shipment.
 
That helps I see the - . I think I will test them as well just to be safe. None of them have paste, and the only markings are on the papers there in. Not original packaging. I will have to find some paste soon, and see if I can mess up my light. Thanks everyone for the input.
 
You can get the paste at a computer store. Overclockers use it and any nerds on call wagon will have some on their toolbox if you want to hold one up :)
 
Does any one have the link to there stock lay outs? We at TBRC are getting ready to do our second group buy and I would to order there d120 with there stock full spectrum layout.

I live in the UK but have been able to source an IT2080 LED fixture. As you know , it is 36" long and has 90 degree optics.

My tank is 48" with a brace bar in the middle and I'm quite worried about this and the spread of light from this unit on my tank.

Do you guys have some advice for me? E.g. how high will I have to have the unit to get light to both sides of the tank? Will the brace bar cause a *huge* shadow or un-noticable (like my T5's at the moment). etc etc

Appreciate any guidance you can offer before I commit to buy. :fun4:

I have a 2080 on my 72 inch tank w/ a 4 bulb T5 on the other half. My led is 12 above the tank to the bottom. I moved it over to get the spread you want, and it got pretty dark at the end of the tank. I have two cross bars w/ no dead spots. IMO you should get two smaller lights. They have one more row wide of LEDS. Hope that helps.
 
I posted this on the other Evergrow forum, but wanted to see if anyone here has anything different ;)

I have a D120 that seems to have gotten the channels mixed up. Two of my three fixtures have the channels set up where one channel is all blues and the other is white/colors. For some reason my third fixture has it setup where 1 channel is half blue and half white/colors and the other channel is the same. Thus I can't ever run just whites/colors or just blues which makes 1/3 of my tank look different from the other 2/3.

Does anybody know if there's an easy fix for this? I don't want to send it in and have to move all my SPS from that section of the tank.

I have a stupid question ....(only cause I'm new to the led world)are the optic lens holder measurments 14mm high by 20mm diameter?im ordering optic lens and I want to be sure these are correct

Sounds like you would have to rewire it unfortunately.
 
Looking to fit a 55 gallon. i believe its something like 48.5x12.5x21 ~ I've read somewhere that a d120 fixture is sufficient enough for nanos and half of a 120 gal? Is that right. Where I read it it was specifically listing brandname cubes and then half of a 120, just seem like a jump to me. I want one sufficient fixture. Is a D120 suitable for a slim 55? If I can get an led at sub $200 250max, I would take it in a heart beat. Currently run quadT5's on a 20long and am happy with those. What is attracting me to leds is the dimming capability. I've lightly (6long hours) researched around and am all for DIY led fixtures, but to me it seems like a better trade off to buy a finished product than pay the same price and assemble a rickitier one.
Ofcourse I'm enthralled with the idea of having a "naturally occurring lighting" in this tank, ramping. This doesn't seem possible with DIY units/kits or without spending top dollar=a cheap car.
Would somebody please give me a nudge?
I figure I need atleast a 30-35 led setup of 3w or more. say I get a dimmable driver & controller or driver & 10v with a potentiometer is there anyway to painstakingly configure a real sunrise and sunset? Multiple potentiometers?:hammer: I'm just tired and processed as much as I can right now:uhoh3:
