 So she wasn't really eaten alive. She does this all the time. Well, at least she did until last night. I moved her to a different tank with the other two Saddlebacks. The trio gets along fine when there isn't an anemone to fight over. Here's a shot of the trio.

I saw that at the LFS every time I would go in there. Gave me a heart attack every time I saw that. Great pics.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. BTW, could you describe the set-up? I am not new to reefs but I have always stayed away from anemones (and now I want to try them) so if you could describe this anemone, how long you've had it, and how you care for it...it would be awesome. I'm gonna start with a tank raised BTA but I would like to read about different set-ups.
Thanks,

Rafael

This is a Haddoni, so it will act completely different than a BTA. It's care and requirements are different as well. I've had it for around 3 years or so. It was about 7 inches across when I got it, and has grown to about 16 inches. It stays in the sand bed with its foot stuck under the rocks. The only time it has moved is when the MH went out. I wouldn't keep Haddoni's without a MH. He has eaten several fish. Even a Hippo tang that was about 5 inches long. ($75.00 down the drain:rolleyes: ) I don't have much flow on it. It's about center a standard 55gl tank. There are two standard 4 foot 40W florescents, four 55W compacts, and a 175W MH over the tank. It has hosted Tomato, Clarkii, and Saddle Back. I feed it, on average, about once a week. I hope this is the information you wanted. Good luck with yours.

Thanks everybody. I'm glad you liked the pics.

simply amazing :D did she really go inside the nems mouth? or is it just folded to a point where it looks like she is getting eaten?

She goes completely inside the mouth of the anemone. Sometimes her whole body disappears. She even turns around while she is in there. She goes in head first and comes out head first. She is 4.5 if not 5 inches long. I didn't want her to hurt the anemone, so I separated the two. I couldn't feed her either. Every time I walked up to the tank, she would dive in. By the time she came back out all the food would be gone.

what other fish/inverts do you keep in the tank? I am considering a blue or pink carpet at the lfs and was wondering what it is less likely to eat if anything. lol

lol, that is an awesome picture, maybe she goes in there to drop a fat deuce, that would be even more awesome.. :)

If it's a Haddoni it will eat just about anything that is stupid enough to touch it, but most fish can learn to stay away. I have a Yellow Tang, Royal Gramma, and three small damsels in the tank with it right now. Most of the fish that they eat are either sick or new introductions. Before adding any fish I always make the carpet withdraw under its rock. I have added fish before and they dart right into the anemone. If you take them for what they are, they can be awesome pets. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

My female does the same thing. She is about 5" and the haddoni is abour 18". My carpet as well has eaten its fair share of fish. Its a love hate relationship. My female will even grab fish and shove them into it from time to time. I hate that. Nice clowns though. Ive had my pair for about 2 and a half years now. They used to be very light brown, now they are pretty much all black.

Ah another interesting picture, the last one I found interesting was ocellaris eatting bta sweepers. Great pictures. I wonder would they do that to other anemones besides the carpet.

I have tears in my eyes

Mine do the same thing... Once time the anemone closed up while she was in the mouth and I thought for sure she was a goner, 2 minutes later she popped out no worse for the wear.
