I second that. Thank you for all the good information. The coral from Oddballs is all settled in my tank as well as the donor frags I got this meeting. The donor program is an awesome benefit that helps us expand our corals and help each other at the same time. I am glad that I get to help out in the process and thank you Lynn for being an awesome frag-master! ;-)

Spring Clean up-- for lack of a better description--- this weekend.

Took care of a lot of odds and ends on the tank.
First the return outlet had become encrusted with coraline.
A good vinegar bath was in order. Almost there:

Took the light down and gave it a scrubbing with a toothbrush and ro/di water.
Blew the fans out with compressed air (you don't want to know how bad).
The fixture is a 250w MH supplemented with 2 PC bulbs.
Checked the log, 14Feb2010 was last change date for PC bulbs.
So both were changed and went with less blue to see if I can get better

Next was dealing with a seal on the return side of the tank. It began to leak at some point and didn't inform me:

By the time I caught on it had caused this damage to the plywood base:

It also left a large salt residue, and a rust spot on the stand (which
is what tipped me off). Got the joint loosened, toothbrushed the glass
clean on both sides, and same with the rubber gasket and threads---
then re assemble.

A day later, so far no leak and wood is drying out.
Will deal with the rust spots another time.

Took a look see through out the sump to see how things were doing.
With summer approaching, the sun has already begun to shipt in the sky
and comes through the glass door in the morning. So, the front panel of
the acrylic sump, which has been clear all winter, is fully covered with
coraline.

Checked out the clean water return portion--- There are not supposed
to be hermit crabs playing in the intakes of the mag pumps--- removed.

Other end-- filter soc--- You be the judge:

Next project for the vinegar bath:

Wow, and I thought I'd had a fun Sunday! All I did was find two dead cleaner shrimp when I did a water change.

Yeah, actually couple day in the doin'. I do like piddlin' around with the tanks. Getting the 3rd one sold will help. It's really in an awkward place.

Great update Lynn!

Thanks,

did forget to add water tests

since adding the larger frag tank, mag has dropped to 1200. I've been
able to pull it back to 1250. Hopefully after today it will be back to around 1300. Would help if I would quit adding lps/sps for a bit.
But where's the fun in that

Hi Joseph,

One reason I removed that Tunze pump yesterday--
Too much pull for that short tank.

Small frag from somewhere was a goner.

Pump fragging is not an accepted procedure that I'm aware of....

Man your avatar always creeps me
