Comas Frag Tank

August meeting

August meeting

August meeting is coming up on the 14th

Jacob Steele will be presenting on tank photography. This is another meeting you DO NOT want to miss.

As usual, I will be putting up a thread about available frags from your donor tank.

This month, I will have half a dozen frags I have never offered since I took over the program. They have been donated, mounted, healed and started growing. So they are ready for new homes.

I'll start the thread on Monday, 9 August with some of the usual suspects and some new things.

Sorry I did not update this thread,

Since the meeting was postphoned a week, the thread will also be postphoned a week and will start

Monday, 16 August

Get ready

Hi fellow reefers,

GREAT meeting topic this month. Find any way to get there. Success with LPS and SPS starts with stability and understanding these 3 elements: alk, calc, mag.

This will be my 1 year mark with the COMAS tank. A bunch of coral has found its way to some good homes. It's time to re stock. I'm going to starting a thread as usual next week, but I'm going to be asking people to return corals and help me set the tank up for the new year.

More info on Monday...........:reading:

Lynn,
If I pay my dues at the meeting Saturday, will I be able to partake in the frag program? I will be bringing some donations and just wanted to know if I might be able to get a frag or two.

Thanks
Lauren

What a response

What a response

Huge thanks to all who donated corals to the donor program last night. Awesome response to help re stock the tank.

If you liked the coral/s you received from the donor program and they do well, please put a comment and/or picture in this thread or the monthly thread for each meeting.

Enjoyed meeting you all.

Oxide zoas I recieved this month from the program!

What a great day saturday WAS..... Almost killed myself working in the yard and cleaning gutters, but it felt great.

Today was perfect for catching up with the tank. The last mtg sent me home with so many donations I've had to really keep up with the alk/calc/mag. To give you some idea how much is being drained, todays parameters:

salinity 1.026
Ph 8.2
alk 8
calc 400
mag 1275

I had gotten in some needed extras on Thursday so I cleaned up and hooked up the doser and got it reprogrammed and running.

It will dose alk/calc/mag automatically at pre programmed times as many times a day as requested in amounts requested.

Some of you saw the tall gentleman with the 5 gal bucket at the last meeting. If you peeked inside you saw a huge donation of frog spawn. I have a wall of frog spawn near the back of the tank--- here is about 2/3 of it:

And a nice zoanthid colony coming to the next meeting:
