Cryptocaryon Irritans - tank transfer method

hi all, i just started TTM andi have 2 of everything to avoid any contamination. today is the third day on tank A for the fish and tomorrow will be the move to Tank B. but for work reasons i was asked to travel on the forth day at 10 AM and i will be away for 4-5 days.

Tank B is ready and the salt mixing as we speak i have also put an auto feeder for tank B.
can you please let me know if i should restart the TTM after i come back or just pi ckup where i left off ?

ps. i got no one to handle this task while i am away.
Thank you.

Restart.

This ^^

You will have missed the window where we are reasonably sure that no cysts would have hatched and thus reinfected the fish. Can you get someone you trust to do the transfer in your absence?

I agree. Or could you move them in 24 or 48 hours to keep in line with another move on the 3rd day. If you are going to be gone more than 3 days, you will have to restart.

Hi, thanks for the tips, I already moved them from tank A to B and hit the airport, I think it's safer to restart when I get back, cos I got no one I can trust with the tank at the moment.

Question;
I'm in the process of the Tank Transfer method for Yellow Midas Blenny. The Blenny always goes to the bottom crease/corner of the tank when I take him out. I have been using a net and the net does rub across the bottom of the tank a little to get the blenny moving into the net.
I am worried that because the net is rubbing the bottom of the tank it might pick up the Protomont and then get transferred to the fresh tank. Should I be worried and do I need to start over and make sure the Blenny is swimming before I catch him?

thank you
Dave

Protomont's are not a problem when transferring over as they still have to form a cyst (Tomite/Tomont) that takes more than 3 days to hatch.

you are fine. just make sure that the net fully dries out and stays dry for 24 hours. I have found that nets stay wet for an excessive period of time.

I am getting ready to start TTM. have a question...my purple tang already has signs of crypto (salt spinkles everywhere) can i start this or should i wait for it to start looking a little better? Not dosing anything just feeding allot for him to fatten up.

Start now. It will totally take care of the problem. :love2:

So it won't stress him out more?

IME this is the most overblown fear about TTM. I have TTM'ed more times than I care to count and in every situation the new fish were personable within a couple days (before the first tank change even) and eating immediately. I have never lost a fish to TTM, while I have lost fish to other QT methods and to disease back when I did not QT.

Fish are much more resilient than we give them credit for. As Steve said, the real stress comes from not treating them.

Well that answers that..doing first tank transfer today.👍

i read through the thread i realized you keep the same store SG so do you gradually bring it up during post TTM in quarantine? as well do add prime everyday during TTM? is that the best ammonia solution?

Well..woke up to check on my purple tang..dead. What did i do wrong? Followed directions perfect.

you may have explained above, sorry for asking to repeat if so; but, explain the exact setup; gallons, equipment, temperature, salinity, and how (and how long) you mixed new saltwater.

sorry about your loss! not a cheap fish to lose either... i have lost 2 in my day from back when i did Hypo, no clue why they were more sensitive than other fish...

When a fish already has crytocarlyon irritans it may succumb to the initial infestation . Treatments such as tank transfer ,copper hypo salinity don't kill what's already in the fish. Treatments prevent reinfestations which are often more lethal than the first and prevent ich form entering the aqurium.
