A friend (fellow RCer) turned me on to them. Read some reviews here on reef central (do a search) and liked what I saw. Even watched some you tube videos. I also wanted to try a cone but not spend big bucks. I feel like I've over spent and over sized every skimmer I've ever gotten. These also happened to go in sale right at the time I was ready to buy. I pm'd the guy that did a big review on this exact model. Just wanted to check that he was still happy with it after a year. He was. So I said "what the heck". Aqua cave had a great price.

So far I'm pleased. Quiet. Tunes easily. Can't comment on performance with a bigger biolad yet though.
