Cully's SCA 120 build

What were the numbers 2 feet down?

I've been doing some reading and used to run ATI Blue + bulbs in combo with MH bulbs. I have to compare the spectral graphs from Geissman and ATI. I already have 2 Geissman bulbs and they are available locally. However, I may just order 3 ATI Blue+ and a Purple +. May be too blue for some folks but I'm a "blue" guy. I find the 20K look aesthetically pleasing. Not so motivated by rapid growth these days.

Numbers at the sandbed in the front of the tank about 110 par with new apogee software that autocorrects numbers. Despite turning down the lights, I'm still north of 300 par at my top center rock.

Found it on here. There's an SCA owners tgread like 50+ pages long. Fit and finish is superb. Polished beveled edges. Beautiful silicone job. 15mm Starphire-sturdy aka heavy as hell.

That's where I had it on the last one. Plumbing 3 1.5" pipes into a small area of the sump without drilling holes in the stand was more of a challenge.

understood!

understood!

how many inches from floor to top edge of your 120?

I was imagining a center back overflow on my 220. Apples and oranges!

58" from floor to top edge of my 220. I want a Ghost on the next aquarium but I don't know if I want it on the back center or side. Overflows require some monitoring- you know. How the heck would I get into a drain line if it was back center?

Carefully. Yeah.. I figured! :D

Definitely depends on the configuration. Sump location. You talking about a standard set up vs peninsula?

I've got all my plumbing done. Getting a few things cleaned up and tinkering with an aquascape. Problem is half of my rock is live with a few surviving corals. Other half is dry. I need to pick up some more dry rock to at least be able to complete the larger of the 2 islands I plan to have.

I realize all of this is useless without pictures. If you want me to oust a oucture of a big bucket filled with pumps and vinegar water for content, I can. Or a pile of dried rocks with a Very angry man in a sling in the reflection...

No pix necessary lol!
No peninsula next time around. Its unfortunate, but that's not gonna happen. I can still mount the Ghost on one end and make life a little easier.

The older you get, the more you need to make things easier.
Maybe I should just do a kegerator....

Sexy Time!

I had to augment the stand and place 3/4" plywood base under the stand. This prohibits any light from getting through so I tossed up a $10 LED under cabinet light to be able to see the sump area.

Plumbing is done. A lot of twists and turns with PVC. Tough to get everything to land right where you want it. I used 90s, 45s, they even make 60s, and 22s or some such...who knew!

Did a manifold to feed the media reactor and Ca Reactor.

Main portion of the scape is done. A LOT!!! Of sweating and swearing. Finally happy with it and of course the photo doesn't capture it.

Lighting will be Radions and 3 ATI Blue Plus and 1 ATI Purple Plus.

And tonight's helper!

Still gotta pass the wet test. I'm a week out from shoulder surgery and I know I've over done it! I've started making water, will start filling it this week. I'm sure my RO filters are shot after sitting idle for 6 months. It is exciting though.

When everything originally went ****house I just hit the power. Everything is in one circuit. I have to look everything over thoroughly before I hit the juice again.

Looks good. Excited to see it when its up and running. Adding the two additional t5s to my setup today, so now a total of 4 t5s (two coral plus and two blue plus) with three gen 2 pros with wide angle lenses. For now, I think I'm going to running the radions and 20% (100/100/100/26/26/26), one set of t5s for 4 hours and the other for 2 hours. I hope to ramp up the t5s to 4 and 6 hours and then see where things stand.

That is some damn sexy equipment you have there bud . Your going to love those QD's. You can't even hear them run. Dead silent. Is that return pump the M1 or L1?

Looks like you're almost at the end of the beginning ;)

Should be an awesome tank. I'm curious about the lighting. I'm thinking about going over to leds also. The radions come at a premium though. Not sure that they're that much better than the cheap chinese brands or at least in proportion to cost. Why did you feel you needed the T5's on top of that?
