Doreensis is not known to split naturally as a form of reproduction. Me personally. I would not believe anyone that says you can successfully cut a doreensis and end up with two healthy anemones without pics and/or videos. The only two host species that are known to have powers of regeneration strong enough to heal after being cut in half are quadricolor and magnifica. They also happen to be the only two host species that split naturally. IMHO, cutting any other host species in two will simply end with a dead anemone.
I have heard folks saying they have, I have yet to see a recovered specimen.
Based on the types of lesions exhibited by weakened M. doreensis, I am concerned about the recovery period in the typically provided environments. Would definitely only attempt with large, well established, specimens in a species tank.
I would infer, H. crispa as a better candidate vs M. doreensis based on crispa demonstrating survivability in bleaching, harsh collecting, intake damage, etc.
Either way, all the best, and if you plunge the knife, keep us up to date.

yep, I was having dinner with Calfo quite sometime ago back when he was promoting the anemoen propagation heavily, he said that the only specimens were BTA, LTA (M.doreensis) and haddoni carpet.
Through out the years, in my experience, only BTA is really do-able and definitely not the "every 2 weeks" cutting timeframe that he was promoting back then though. I think cutting every month is already pushing it alot.
Mike Paletta was telling us that a coral farm was having around 80-90% success with BTA, and 40% with haddoni.
Don't think I am cutting my LTA though, seems like it's already to keep them alive without cutting, whenever it detach itself from the bury hole, I have a hard time to get it back into the bury hole / sand.

That's good to hear.
If you can build a barricade around the anemone with LR's, it may help keep it in one place long enough for it to attach its foot and get comfy. It will also help block some of the flow. LTA's don't like alot of flow. Especially when their foot is exposed. They usually won't attach, or only briefly attach, if the flow is to strong.
