For the long term I would rather see you move that drain line away from the foundation.
Can you imagine what it will look like 5 years down the road? (think trench)
A french drain would be better, or a dry well. My 2C.

Yes, as you can see above, Richard is always excited to see another d2mini build thread. :thumbsup:I'm not certain I can manage to follow another Dennis build....I only have so much I can be impressed with....
don't listen to that, I'm just complaining and will just live vicariously through your build
Excited to see where this one takes you. TBS again? I would hope so.
If you want vertical tanks like these, go to Tank Depot on 1-10 east out near Federal. If you want horizontal tanks like I used in my last build, go to Tractor Supply on I-10 west out in Katy at FM 1463.
1/4" water lines can be run from the storage tanks, through the wall to the aquarium stand.

The only thing I don't like about this spot is that one side will be pretty much blocked from viewing. But if I was to pull it out and shift it to the left, it will be more directly in front of the TV which will probably cause glare. I may push it over there and make a final decision once it arrives, but right now I think the current location picked out is going to be my best bet.

You really think so? At such a slow flow rate?
I had my AWC draining outside 150x per day on my old cube build, right along the foundation and it was never a problem. I would think here in Houston, and with our clay, it's pretty much drying as soon as it hits soil. lol
But what do I know? Not much!

Yep, just going to need to see if the 30" i still have will fit or if I'll have to go with a new 24".
LOL, we'd make a scary team.
But ya, i'm honestly not sure. Around here it's recommended to water around the foundation I guess due to the floating slabs and clay soil and how dry it gets. This area is under the deck so I figured it wouldn't be getting hit by the sprinklers directly, but maybe by runoff. Should stay more moist being out of the sun, too. Didn't think the little bit of water coming out of this line would make too much difference either way. But like you say, guess we can wait and see. One good thing is that since I'm running Triton on this system, water production will be way down because there usually won't be any water changes. Just the ATO water.

Looks like a nice start, or restart of sorts.
I agree on drain line being farther from foundation, not just for potential trenching along foundation but that is also a lure for pests, subteranean termites love a moist hidden area along a foundation like that.
Your last build, especially the cabinet work was one of my favorites on here, this will be nice to follow, as I'm sure you will make the most out of what space and tank you have to build with.

hahahaha... i knew it would be a bit polarizing for some but the blue stays.Build already looks promising. That teal has to go though
It's 1000% more "us" than the red was.
This is why we didn't fit in out in the burbs. Hard to take two artists/designers out of the city and stick them out there. After a while you go :wildone:
Oh termites. Yikes. I have plenty of line to run it to a sunny area, so no biggie.
I'll be the first to say this build won't be nearly as epic as the last and probably not much different than a hundred other builds out there.
But I'll do my best to do it right.

I do agree about getting that water away from the house. I am a contractor and have fixed countless homes for water damage under the foundation. What works great and is so easy is a dry well. Dig a deep hole, drop in a barrel with the bottom basically cut out, fill it with large gravel. Water line go in near the top of the barrel. You can cover the top of the barrel with a lid, then dirt/grass. The water mysteriously disappears to the center of the earth. Or, like you said....just drain it to the yard if it sunny enough and doesnt pool up to much. Hate a mud hole.
