*d2mini's new 200g Reeftastic Build*

German cars are amazing. But unless you are willing to pay the price don't keep them out of warranty past 70k... ive had nothing but bmw, audi, vw and porsche from 2002 to 2012 and the maintenance can be brutal when they decide it's time to see the mechanic every month! Got tired of it and went japanese. I agree 100% on the toyotas... tin cans and ugly interior to make it worse. Nissan's are rock solid and feature packed, l love the wifes. Miss my subaru, one hell of a rocket at 3.8s 0-60 :-)

Yep, I've had pretty much everything and every time I don't have an Audi I end up missing it and going back. lol
Almost bought an F30 3-series but it didn't drive any different (in real world situations) and I felt the Audi was a much better value. We'll see how it goes long term. I've never kept a car more than 50,000 miles except for an old Honda Accord that I finally sold with 130k because after 100k I was making monthly credit card payments for repairs. CV boots, belts, etc. Upstate NY winters are brutal.
Usually was lucky to put 10k/yr on a car. My A3 was almost 5 years old with 45k when I sold it. Now I'll hit 50k in just over two years, warranty gone. I'd like to at least make 4 years. Much longer if it keeps running ok. I'm good with keeping up with maintenance and can do some things myself.

The Nissan Z is one of my favorite looking cars... just wish the interior didn't feel so plastic-y. I'd probably end up with a TT if I was in that market.
My wife loves Infiniti... real nice cars, I just wasn't fond of the gas mileage and other little minor things that were annoying to me but she thought nothing of. Just personal preference stuff. :)

Anyhoo....

Good news!
I have received tracking info on the sump and refugium! :bounce3:

The refugium will be here tomorrow or friday via UPS and the sump is coming by truck carrier... I'll be getting a call from the local office to set up an appt for delivery at some point. Probably next week sometime.

Woohoo!! Glad to hear it!

Man your tank is so inspirational. Ive been following it for a while and it never disappoints. How far are you from Richmond? My dad lives there now and it would be awesome to check out your setup in person one day. You should charge an entry fee :-P

Thanks. I'm basically on the Fulshear/Katy/Richmond border. :)

Hey Neighbor.

That is a lot of miles. You in sales or drive far into Houston for work?

33 mile commute to my office just outside downtown Houston.

Forgot to show that after setting up the foscam I moved my dropcam to the fish room. That should come in handy.
And the ultra-wide view of the dropcam pro works out perfect for this tiny space.

getting back into the hobby again...I made sure this was one of the first threads I read. Wow I was in for a surprise. Sad to see the old tank take a negitive turn, but really happy to see the progress! Oh and I love the Audi. I sold my Mini a couple years ago (shows you how long ive been away from fish, its still my avatar) Ive since picked up an A3 sline (chip upgrade, diverter valve, coil overs, exhaust) and LOVE IT. I also have a older E53 X5 and Audi is much better in my eyes, even though they are polar opposites.

Oh and I don't know if you remember me asking about your Labradoodle (I was in the market) but we ended up rescuing a Goldendoodle about a year ago. Man we love her!!!

Again, cant wait to see what is to come!!!

Nice!
Welcome back. :)

I had an audi and then went to a brand new 2004 Mini S. Loved that thing but always missed the interior quality of the Audi. Eventually got the A3 s-line. Went Stage II with it. :)
Did you get a new one or used? I'm so ticked that they aren't bringing the wagon here yet. The sedan is nice looking but I lubs me a wagon. Would have gotten an Avant instead of the A4 sedan but they stopped bringing that here too. Bastages.

Little cars are fun... no idea wth they were thinking with the new Mini's... Maybe there was a complaint about the head room? :hmm5:

It's sad that Audi did not bring the S3 here... I would have taken that in a heart beat over my 06 S4... Although, I much prefer the maintenance on a naturally aspirated engine vs turbo...

I'm a hatchback fan. Favorite hands down to date was my Dark gray metallic 2013 WRX with around 413 hp at the wheels and 490 torque. Though, they have a very plain interior. I still find them more appealing than some of the other Japanese/american cars. In the end though, you definitely do not buy a wrx for luxury.

I think I heard that Audi made the 3 a sedan specifically for the US Market... :rolleye1:

Hey Dennis,
I prob have missed it in ur build thread, but how much rock did you get from Richard for ur tank? Getting ready to place an order for my tank and the recommended numbers on the TBS site seem a little high in weight for what I want to do. Thanks!

Dennis

Personally, I tend to go a bit less.
If I was doing a 200g tank I'd probably get somewhere more around 150.
And the TBS rock is heavier than some others so it may not be as much as it sounds. I try to make sure that If I'm going to go one way or the other, that I end up with extra rather than not enough. Any leftovers I would use in my sump. Worst case, i could sell extra to some local reefers. ;)
Same with the sand, i tend to like a bit less.
So it all works out in the end.

Bought it used. I did the the work to it (well not me, but my local audi mech.) I bought it with 40K and put a little over 80K on it in 2 years. So it is currently at 120 and still going strong! I made the decsion to drive it into the ground b/c i love it so much. So I picked up the x5 about 6 months ago to (hopefully) be towing a boat this summer. I almost wish I didn't or I went with Q5 or Q7, but those were a hair out of my price range...

Have you seen the RS3 that came out overseas within the last month?!?! WOW, so amazing. I love me a hatch back. Wish I could afford an RS6 Avant. Hey i am only 26, I have some time to save!!!!
