Glad the ssc is encrusting again. Nice job there.
I am very jealous of all of the different algea growing so nicely in your fuge!

THANK YOU !! for the compliments.

Matt.... I am not adding anything to my system

It is just corals, fish, macro algae and the bacterias.

I only feed the fish and "could be, if I remember" add twice during the month some aminoácidos. My feeding is like what Matt showed in the video.

After my nutrients issues, when I started the refugium, I was feeding every other day. Algae started to growth and suddenly after some months started to die and not growing. I was reading Andrews's thread at that time and there were a lot of postings about the number of fish. At that time I had 10 fish. Also I was reading in that thread, yours, MATT, Etc About Feeding , Fish And The Beneficial Cycle That Can Generate To Coral . (Sorry the phone is changing to capital letters).

I read too about iron. But my decision at that time was, and still is, " I will NOT add any supplements " Or this works in a simple way or it can go to hell".

I said to myself, instead of adding iron, etc to grow Macro, I want the algae to export, so I will start to feed the fish every day. By that time P was also ~0.04 ppm. So I did start feeding every day and increasing the amount slowly. In a couple of weeks the macro started to grow again. So then I started to buy more fish, to finish today in 20 fish and also increased the size of the fuge (to put the extra 10 fish) and......more food for twice the fish.....and MACRO never stopped growing. Sometimes faster, others slower.

I hope this helps !!!!

Cheers
Daniel

Yesterday I forgot to show the Mangroves hanging garden with its hydroponics LED light......LOL

All helps to keep Phosp. Low. I measured yesterday and got 0.03 and 0.09 Hanna. As you can see its not so good the repeatability of the test. So let say I have 0.05 ppm average.

Cheers

Thanks for the info , Dan
Unfortunately even with big feedings and high nutrients, my cheato isn't growing...
Anyways.. I love that hang on mangrove filter! Just a cool idea!

Find new fresh Chaeto. That too happened to me, cheato dying and replacing it for fresh. Add it to the one you have or just replace it. As much as you can. That is something simple to do and will not affect the tank at all. Try it........

I do to have caulerpa too. It growth faster than chaeto and if you prune it frequently, as I do, because I read it in a thread, the caulerpa do not go sexual. Also if it do not have food it start to be white.....then I increased the food.

All that happened to me

Hey Dan,

Your tank is amazing! The way you've managed to get the tank to look so much larger than it actually is is pretty special. The shots you take are stunning as well!

Matt mentioned over in my topic that you use a Note 4 to take your photos. That's also how I take mine, but mine are not nearly as stunning as what you've produced. What settings do you use to achieve your results?

Chris..... thank you for the compliments! !!

I am using whatever came from factory and I reduce exposure 1 point to enrich the colors. Most are taken in 6 Mega to reduce the file size. But the camera has up to 16 Mega. And I never use the Flash, unless it is really needed.

See this :

Thanks, I'll try getting a fresh cheato ball.
I'm also going to find a couple mangroves.

Matt I got the Mangroves through eBay, from Florida. They all started to lose the leafs after some days. I though...crap they are dying. But 1-2 looks ok so I left it all. And they started to get leafs after some months and.......there they are.

Thanks, Dan! I'm going to give this a shot next time I take some photos.

I would like to follow the growing of the tips of these 2 corals.

I took these pictures Yesterday, JANUARY 10 2016.

I will update the pictures as soon as I see significant growth.

You can not see this Acro in my FTS and from some reason I keep forgetting about it.

It was a 1" frag 2 years ago. Then grew to a small colony. I had my nutrient issue and was brown and almost dead. Yes, only a small piece , of less than 2", looks alive and totally brown. I was so angry that I almost trash it, but instead I glued in a piece of rock at the back left side of the tank. I glued it there because it was a really bad place for an acro. I was focused on saving the full tank and this guy was really disposable at that time. Low light and low flow, just to let him die slowly.

Well, destiny wanted something different for him.

From a trash piece we have this today.

WELL DONE ACRO !!!!:bounce2:

You can only see 3 branches at the left back, look the purple montipora, exactly where the air tubing is, near the return pump. That one is the guy !!!!

He is growing like an open hand. Like looking for the space and telling the others...." I did it ".

Whoa! That's cool!! Not only is it cool that it grew and survived and even colored up, but it's an unusual growth form as well:). Nicely done, sir! You neglected that one just right:lol:

I found this picture from Dec 2013 when he was growing in the 13 G Mr Aqua tank. Then was relocated to the RSM250.

Is the one in the center with 3 small branches.

Here is a picture of that tank from the side where that coral was. You can find it very easy.
