Daniel's RSM 250 SPS tank

I like the forgotten acro, I have a few of those I ripped back off the rocks and put on plugs. One will always grow well on the frag rack but never on the rocks. Maddening! :D Good job!

Can't wait to see how fast that new growth is.

Thank you Mark !!

I will post pictures of them in some weeks.

Now I am struggling with a decline in in my Alk. In the last 2 weeks I have to increase my dosing from 62 to 72 ml. Still my Alk. Is low to what I like. Is around 6 to 6.4 dkh I added to the dosing program 3 ml more , for a total dosing of 75 ml now. I am dosing 2 parts b-ionic. Same dosing volume for each part,

This started with the AF sale first WC, I hope this means growing !!!

I have to tell you that the corals looks great.

Cheers
Daniel

I posted these pictures in the zoa thread of this forum, but I really took it during 2015 to show how the red p l a net base during its growing over the rock was engulfing the zoas around it. Follow the images.

Green slimer and Red Planet. Zoas between them.

Red Planet covering the Zoas

Red Planet continue covering the zoas (zoom picture)

A few zoas left (zoom picture)

AMAZING !!!...... that Red Planet is a Bulldozer! !!

He is,also winning the battle on the branch touching the green slimer branch.

Cheers
Daniel

Wow,
That is some cool stuff Daniel!!! That planet looks to be growing over zoas, now that is something interesting, I finally separated my slimer and red robin, they grew well together, but that planet is a beast and does not look too friendly:)

Perry......I just took this picture. Look at the center, between the 2 green slimer branches. The Red Planet continue growing over the zoas. A zoa is being covered.

Is this same guy !!!!

Wow.. I have never seen an Acro grow over zoanthids..
I am amazed.
That is very cool.
Your red planat must be growing like a monster.. This probably explains your increased demand for alk..
Has calcium demand gone up as well??

Matt.....as I am using B-Ionic 2 parts solutions for Alk and Ca , it is a while I measured Ca. They have to be in equilibrium (Ca and Alk) if I dose equal parts of both components.

As soon as I have time I will measure Ca.

Yesterday I increased another 1 ml of B-ionic. I am now in 76 ml both parts per day. My Alk was 6 4 dkh. I will let the same dosing today because it is WC day. Based on tonight result I will or will not increase the dosing.

Corals looks great.....touching wood !!!!

Cheers
Daniel

Yesterday I did my 3 rd AF WC. In a real total volume after rock/sand/etc..... of 90 G I have done 20 G , 20 G and 25 G , during the last 3 weekends.

The first effect I saw was a decay in Alk , from 7.5 dkh to 6 dkh (slowly decay), that I have been trying to counteract by slowly increasing the dosing. I was in 62 ml/day of 2 part Bionic and today I am in 78 ml/day.

The Alk has been steady at 6.4 dkh , but I gave been increasing the dosing. I will dose tomorrow also 78 ml and see if it stay in 6.4 dkh

My AF bach of this weekend had a 7.4 dkh at salinity 1026.

The corals looks GREAT !!!! Polyp extension has increased. I know it is subjective, but I spent every minute I can watching the corals, and I can tell with certainty that they are happy. !!!!

That's all for now folks.

Bottom line, things are moving well, just trying to find the dosing to keep that Alk nearby 7 or at least steady in 6.4 dkh.

Cheers
Daniel

BTW..... this weekend , instead of spending money in reef stuff I got the OK to Change my old Prius 3 for the new 2016 prius 4 with all the high tech toys on it.

Cheers again !!!!

Great to hear the reef is going well Daniel :)

Is that one of those wind up electric cars mate........

1. Have you ever chained yourself to a tree ?
2. Had urges to live like some wild savage in a rain forest and chain yourself to a bulldozer ?
3. Taken a harpoon for a whale ?

I'm extremely disappointed Daniel........... :reading:

Do you have a Prius Matt, you know electrons move slower at lower temps right........... a Prius in Canada loses 15% fuel efficiency due to electrons freezing up in the fuel lines.

LOL.

Love the Red Planet pics Daniel, I wish I could get one to live. Hopefully after I get rid of all my pesky paly scum and things settle down I will try again.

LOL about Prius. I'd love a Tesla Model S; those cars are very fast and the electrics inside the car is just amazing.

I'm happy you are seeing the same things I am as far as the products go. I'm like you in that I watch the tank so closely I can tell when something has changed even if catching it on film is not really possible.

Those are fantastic. The only issue is when the computer, in a long trip, tells you that the nearest charging station is at 40 miles. But they are like space shuttles concerning technology .

Yes Matt , I am seing some improvements on the corals. It is difficult to explain. So far I am happy with the salt and I hope AF is able to keep with the demand on this side of the world. So far I got my second AF bucket that is stored in the basement.

I am happy with the salt change. Now I want to see how this is expressed in the long run.

Cheers

Hi Matt I measured today Ca. It is 400 ppm. Alk still is at 6.4 dkh, independently that I have increased the dosing up to 79 ml. Could be I am reaching a sort of equilibrium between usage and addition?

I took a look to my Apex records and in Sept 4 and Dec 26 , Ca levels were at 425 and 450 respectively.

That do not tell us too much. I really can't built a Ca usage curve with those 3 points.

Bottom line , today values were:

Alk 6.4 dkh

Ca 400 ppm

All measured with Salifert Kits .

Cheers
Daniel

Ps: SPS Corals looks very well !!!!

Why don't you ask Shih to 3D print you one mate.............

I'm pretty sure those electric cars come with a backup in case you can't get to the nearest charging station Daniel. Read the bloody manual and it'll tell you where the wind up key is stored.
