I was getting more like 7-8 LPM stock. But that was with different airline tubing that was very hard to connect to the meter, I think it was inaccurate..
At this point I am finding the extra air to be pointless, this skimmer runs best at about 400 LPH and the level set right around where the chamber meets the black flange.
When I increase the air it overflows, and the highest setting is way to much. Either it needs to break in or I would need a riser on it.
Lowering the level in the skimmer (to an inch below the flange to compensate for the extra air and not overflow) does not help. It does not create as good of skimate so far. I think theres is to much turbulence in contact with the fine bubbles and they are not making it up to the neck. Or at least this is what I am guessing, becuase the small bubbles seem to not make it up into the neck (they are visible at the top of the chamber) and larger bubbles are in the neck. This is just not creating as good of foam, even though much more air is in the skimmer and the pump is pushing less water. Maybe someone with more experience can jump in here, but so far the extra 200 or more LPH is useless... Ss for bubble quality, I really can not say, both seemed very good, but it is pretty awesome right now.... I think the mod was worth it but I have no real long term observation to say much.
I have much more playing with it to do.
In the end, this this ran just as good out of the box IMO.
