Deeznutz Hd 120 Shallow rimless (Pics)

Just was catching up on this build with free time from work. Your home is beauitful and I +1 to what everyone else said. I'm love the trim to cover the foam under the DT. Your sump room is coming along nicely and I love everything down to the color of your paint.

I am excited to follow this build. I'm very jealous! Lots of hard work though, glad your wet!

What if instead of 2 groupings of rock you went for like 3 or 4? I would also add a little more rock, but that's just me. I would want to make sure my fish have enough sleeping space.

Thanks for the advice. My original idea was to have 3 structures but with the overflow in the centre and only having 11" to work with I decided against it.
Two main structures with the centre for zoos is what I'm after. I just think that the structure on the left needs to be a bit more dominate or something. Just doesn't look right. Know what I mean?

I'm not sure I want to add anymore rock. Maybe a 1-2 lbs more to fill in that left structure. I'm going for that open and clean look. I think there'll be enough sleeping places once it's filled in a bit.

Sick looking life you have there.

Why thank you, I'm very flattered. But I'm just an average Joe with permission to build my dream tank :)

Thanks so much for the compliments, I think the trim turned out better then I expected. I can't really take credit for it as my counter top guy did it for me. Didn't even charge me for it. What a stand up guy.

As for the fish room. I've had a chance to clean it up a bit and started moving stuff in and organizing it. I'm realizing that it should have been a touch bigger and I need to put up a lot more shelving lol.

I'm glad you are enjoying the build. It has been a lot of work, but it's also been a labour of love. I absolutely loved getting her wet :p

Nice build, glad to see you got a tank up and going again.
IMO for the scape, the rocks look like there in a straight line (in the pic anyway), I would add one or two rocks to the foreground and the background of the tank. Or have the rock structures you have curve around. Show off the depth of that sweet shallow tank! imo...
Awesome build, excited to see where it go's.

Preliminary Aquascape So I was out today and picked up some Macro rocks. I got to work and did an aqauscape. I'm going for the less is more, negative space look. I want a haven for my sps and Zoa :) Sorry for the crappy picture

Looks a bit naked. Any way you can get 2 large pieces instead of a bunch of smaller ones? Or maybe a big table?

Thanks for the insight. I've been looking at the rocks and trying to figure out how I want to do them. I think the most important thing is that I have enough room for lots and lots of SPS :D

So you're telling me my tank is naked and wet? :lmao:

I've always used large pieces of live rock in the past. I wanted to do something a bit different this time around. If I could find large pieces that were long and narrow, it might work. Remember that I'm only working with 16-1/2" front to back. It's pretty narrow.

Naked, wet, and narrow - now this is getting interesting! I guess big pieces are a no go. Small islands and grow it in will be the plan?

Maybe some flat pieces like a bonsai garden look. I know I went with arches not thinking about coral placement and ended up with little placement area and corals growing ou of the water quickly

Hahaha!
I think since the tank really isn't that big in volume, keeping things on the small side would keep things more proportional.

Rockscape without coral

This is main reason why I have decided to keep the rock work low and not to arch(y) as well as narrow enough (front to back) that I can attach corals to the front and back of the rock.

This way I can keep slow growers on the top and front (enchinata etc) and then put the fast growers on the back side so they can grow out and into the background(milles/stags/nana).

Good idea or not?

BTW got a current FTS?

Hey man, thanks for sharing. I can see you must have ran out of room pretty quickly for the sps. Those monties are taking over. I really like the scape though, because you can keep both LPS and SPS in harmony.
