Deeznutz Hd 120 Shallow rimless (Pics)

Another small update

Well things are moving along so nicely I decided to go grab my sump today. Luckily I had a friend that was free this afternoon and he so happened to have a trunk to boot :bounce1:

We just grabbed a standard 125g since the funds are running low and a custom sump is out of the question. Here she is sitting pretty. I have the sump pushed up into the corner. I'm wonder if I should move it more towards the middle. Any thoughts on this?
I have to order some glass baffles as well. Will 1/4" glass be ok or should I go with 3/8"? What kind of silicone do people use?

I'm planning on just adding one baffle to section off the skimmer. I plan on having the rest of the sump basically a holding area for live rock, nothing fancy.
I'm not worried about micro bubbles since the sump is so long and I'm running a full siphon drain which eliminates most of those pesky micro bubbles.

On to the pics!

Any suggestion at this point would be great. Until next time"¦

Beautiful build!
When i made my sump used 1/4" glass and RTV-103 silicone...its black silicone, and supposed to be the strongest around. I ordered it from Grainger i think. Also its reef safe.

First things first..........

WOW!!!!!! incredible build, congrats.

If you use a generic silicon. make sure to use "window and door" not "kitchen and bathroom". the kitchen stuff contains some sort of antibacterial solution, not good for reefs.

I'd go for quarter inch glass (6mm) and rtv 103. It's a reef safe acetoxy cure silicone that should be good to go in a week.

You might want to consider a bubble trap. If you have a microbubble problem later, draining the sump for a week would be a massive pain.

I know :) Only 10,000,000 more drops to go!

Hmmm, I wonder how drops it really is?

Thanks for the info! My glass is on order for tomorrow!

Thank you for your compliments and thanks for clarifying the antibacterial thing.

Thank you for the info as well and I will consider the bubble trap. :)

Yellow line to fill your tank ?

That's usually the drain on an RO/DI.

Yes it is the drain, I find its best to fill a tank from the beginning with RO waste water. It adds all of the minerals that are usually stripped from the water.
The saturation process of excessive minerals causes an ionic sub-balance, otherwise known as the sub-balance enigma parsauna to qualify sort speak.

Many people have had a lot of success with this technique over in europe. It sound absolutely ridiculous and trust me it is. But if you don't believe me, have a read for yourself!

It also fills your tank 4xfaster!:rollface::rollface::rollface:

Haha! Awesome. I had to hit the link. I couldn't help myself :)

Lol, just having some fun :)

LOL got me

coming along great! hope to see this in person some day.

Thanks man, you're more then welcome to come see it.

Oh Yeah! What a well executed display! Loving your sense of style.
Can't wait to see more!

Thanks man, much appriciated. There's plenty to come :)

Ah. Leak test with water you're going to throw away.

Although that would be a great idea. It's the only 1/4 line I had laying around. I wonder if the nastys in the waste water would get stuck and absorbed into the sand?

Nice D now fill that thing up lol.i haven't even gotten close to filling my tank up. Its making me anxious.

You're anxious??? My build is almost a year in the making, we got the house last September lol.
It's about 4/5 full! I had to stop it as my sump isn't ready yet. I'm still waiting for my pump.
I got my glass today for the baffles and it's 1/4" too wide. w_T_F?!?!?!

I'm contemplating installing it on an angle and be done with it.

Anyone think this will pose a problem(installing the baffle on slight angle)? I'm also running a Vertex alpha cone 250 which is a monster skimmer. With the pump attached, it might make sense so have the glass on a slight angle to accommodate pump. Good idea or not???

A visit with frags? Why aren't you already here lol. Thanks man and I appreciate your generosity. Pm me when you see my starting to stock the tank:lol2:

I would resist the temptation and get the proper sized baffles.

Sure it will work, but do it right like you have all along, you will be glad you did! ;)

God no! I know sumps get nasty anyways, but it will bother you over time... and if you're like me, you'll end up redoing it anyways. Everything is so perfect thus far...may as well wait.
