Update time
Hey RC peeps, I hope the holiday shopping season is treating your wallets well.
Don't leave it to last minute folks. Just 5 days left until the big day
I hope you've all be good, I know I haven't. lol
It's been busy over here in the Deeznutz household. Lots of stress with everything. We've been planning our second daughters 1st B-day party. Since she was born Dec23rd we wanted to separate her Bday from Christmas.
Doing so was not easy as we had a guest list of over 35 adults with 25 kids lol.
We were hoping some people wouldn't be able to make it, but turns out, not one person responded with a no. So the stress of housing about 60 people in this house was pretty difficult. Also the food was another thing that I didn't want to fail on. So we pulled up out socks and got to planning a great party for our little one.
During the planning phase of the party, we learned that one of your persian cats has a form of an eye disease and requires surgery. This has turned into a huge issue as the surgery is very, very expensive and couldn't have come at a better time then right before Christmas
Oh well, what can you do.
Hmmm, what else is going on? Well I've added a few things to the tank. So thats pretty exciting. As for my last update I was toying with adding a few more tangs etc, but wasn't sure if they would all get a long. So I set out for a quick hunt to find some decent fish. Well I found a PBT and a Yellow tang, but they just came in and I wasn't sure if this was the route I was going to take. So I slept on it for a few days.
Still not being sure I decided to go back to my LFS and I pulled the trigger on some fishes
(pun intended)
So I've added a pair of Xanthichthys auromarginatus blue throat triggers and 10 Blue eyed cardinals. I also released a blue tang into the display, which has been in sump since the birth of the tank. I've been holding on to this fish for a friend for months now, but he's decided he's not starting up a new tank any more and asked if I could keep the fish in my display.
So needless to say, he's in the tank and has done very well. He keeps my Desjardins tang in check.
After adding the triggers, they went straight into hiding. It took about 6 days before they would come out to eat. They adjusted now and are currently swimming out in the open together eating mostly seaweed.
As for the cardinal, it's been a completely different story. I added the 10 and day by day i would lose 1. I now have 5 and they have stayed very close to eachother. I wasn't quite sure why they were dying, But when I inspected them their tails are all torn. After watching the tank for some time, i found my bi-colour Anthias didn't take to well to the addition. So far the aggression has subsided, but I'm still worried as the Cardinals have not eaten much. Numbers currently still at 5.
So with the bday party, Cat's eye surgery and fish addition, it been busy in these parts of the woods. I can't wait for Christmas as I have all week off
I'm planning on finishing up a few things in my fish room. So I'll get some pics
as I progress
OK, on to the pics.
So the day started early, I had to get up and start my Big Green Egg. Got her going at 250 degree and hickory wood chips. Let the smoking begin.
The finished product!
