Great pics and corals deez:)
You have some jems in there and i can't wait for them to grow!
Thanks for sharing!

Looks like someone's bin shoppin', nice! Those length wise pics are great, really got a better feel for the look of the tank :)

Looking great! That green torch in the first top down shot looks awesome!

Thanks man,I've dubbed it the deeznutz torch. Although I've been told it's called todds torch from NY

Love the green yellow center zoa with the Orange skirt what is it called

Thanks dude, it's one of those gems I've had for a long time now. I'm not sure what it's call but it sure is bright. Lets call it the deeznutz zoa for now :)

Man your tank is spotless and the corals are looking good!

Thanks man, I'm trying to keep the back clean of coraline algae as per my wifes instructions hahaha

is that a yellow and green torch?? or anem? (if so i'll take a split if it ever does!) looks wicked!

Yeah man, it's a flame tip nem. I'll let you know if she splits. I've never had a BTA split for me and I've had them for over 10 year now lol.

Thanks man, I've been collecting for a while now and it's too bad that most of my best pieces are no longer with me. But the collection is growing once again and I plan on backing up all of these pieces with other locals :)

Shhhhh, I've haven't bought a thing ;) I'm glad I could show the aqauscape a bit better with those angles. It's really hard to get a good FTS with this length.
Maybe I need a fisheye lens:bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:

#UPDATE#REEFLINK#PHOTOBOMB#FESTIVE

Just another random photo update. I've been busy this weekend doing the family thing. We picked up a Christmas tree and I finally installed my Reef Link on the tank stand. It add a bit of techno-geek to stand. I was going to put a controller there instead but having kids around, might not be the best of ideas.

So I took few pics to show how we're in the festive mode already :)
Christmas comes and goes so fast and we just love enjoying it, especially now with the kids.

As for the tank, things are doing well. A few issues though and I'll mention them below.

1- Hair algae is starting to show up just about everywhere. P04 went from 0.06 to 0.00 on my hanna. So I guess the algae is soaking it up. I've been feeding pretty heavy lately as well with the addition of the Anthias. I think I might have to exchange my GFO or look into some kind of carbon dosing. Any suggestions?
VSV/pellets/GFO???

2- I've lost one of my pipe fish for the last 3 days now and I couldn't explain why. They were both eating well and lived very happy together, side by side. Courting in the morning as well. I couldn't find the caucus anywhere until today when I was drilling the stand. Just under the tank stand I saw something that looked like an orange pipe cleaner. I ignored it for a few hours until I was cleaning up. Ended up not being a pipe cleaner, but rather a pipefish lol.
I'm not sure why he escaped, I'm thinking my Desjardini had something to do with it as he's pretty bosterous. I'll be on the look out for another one to pair with my existing one. Sooner or later.

3- Alk has been swinging a bit here and there. It jumped to 10.5 over the course of a week and I've been able to bring it back to 9 over 5 days. I've also found out that my Salinty dropped to 1.023. I'm not sure why as two part usually raised SG. I've brought it back up to 1.025 now and it should be back to 1.026 by wednesday. Still a bit unsure as for why this has happened.

4- Last weekend we had a frag swap here in Toronto. Something that has been popping up more and more lately. I was very impressed with the corals that were being offered.
I picked up some nice frags.
Pearl berry
Pink matrix
Blue orgasm
Orange fugie
Blue Cespitularia
and handful of zoos hahaha

5-I got my Reeflink to work with my new router and I installed it to the tank. See pics below.

6-Thoughts and advice on a few ideas running though my head.

So without getting too confusing, the ways things are going my live stock is starting to get pretty full. I plan on adding just a few more things fish wise.

Current fish list

1- Picasso clown
1-Shrimp goby and shrimp pair
1- dragon face pipe fish
1 -kole tang
1-Desardini
5-Bi-clour Anthias
2-tailspot blennies.
1-cleaner shrimp
2-blood shrimp
1 sand sifter start
1 serpent star

With the fish list getting rather large compared to my initial stocking list I've decided I like both large and small fish lol. My desardini tang is rather mean and thinks he's the boss. I want to add a few more tangs to set him straight.
So I've been on the look out for a Yellow and Powder blue tang to set him straight. I want to add them both at the same time as well. I picked up a Beautiful yellow tang last week, but he didn't do well in quarantine and passed days later. I want to add another pipe fish, clown fish and 3 more Anthias Bartletts

So to sum things up. I want to add

-Power blue tang
-Yellow tang
-3 bartletts
-Picasso clown fish
-Dragon face pipe fish.

Would this be a bad idea? Especially with the tangs? The rock work doesn't add much room for hiding spots at night, but my filtration should be able to handle the load. Vertex Alpha cone 250 and the 125g sump full of Live rock.

Thoughts on this major move? It's going to be a game changer, weather it's for better or worse still has to be seen. I just want to see what others think about it before I go ahead with it.

Ok, well enough of the blabbing on my behalf. I'll make it up to you guys with some pics since I must have bored you guys with all the run on sentences hahaha

On to the pics!!!

I just successful adding a PBT and chocolate to my 187G blue, purple and yellow. I have try adding a PBT without success. Because of my limited rock work, 3 tangs already fighting the hiding spots, the PBT got beat up, got ich and die.

I trapped the blue, purple and yellow tangs, put more rocks and added PBT and Chocolate tang at the same time. let the three bullies lived in the sump and let PBT eat, settle in for least 10 days. I put the at least aggressive tangs back first, let them work out and added another.

I have the PBT about 5 weeks now and he still has ich on him, but he is eating fine and active. They don't really fight, just wag a bit when the light is off.

Good luck

i personally would not jump into dosing or pellets. tank is still new and algae part of that. just get a little better clean up crew and skim a little wetter.
Also be sure to blast rock every week or twice or week to keep detritus off it as well.

Tank in general looks great and don't mess with what you have going

lol

It really doesn't get any better then this congrats

Wow, thanks man!

Thanks for the advice. I think I will have to to sleep on this fish list. I may have to reconsider my options.

Yeah, you're right. Tank is quite young and still needs to settling in a bit more. I just got excited and started to add a bunch of stuff. I think I should slow down for a month or so before I start adding more live stock.

Until then my friends"¦.

I read somewhere it is advantages to start pellets at the beginning vs. later to avoid the big drop and subsequent cyno invasion. Might have been DV's thread?

I just read this whole Thread. You house upgrade and your tank is amazing.

funny.. so did i! and +1
those cute shots of your daughter looking up at Elsa, I've seen that look once before, on my daughter when she looked up at Elsa..
oh and that was probably the look on my face going through this awesome build thread..
your photos, your house, your attention to detail and the overall set up all belong in a magazine.
beautiful!
i miss so much if i blink on reef central..

I have read this before as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to be doing any source of carbon dosing this time around. I did in my last tank for a few years, but stopped due to the cyano.

I do planning on add more fish so we will see if I can keep the nutrients down.
Most likely not lol.

Thank you so much for the compliments. I'm just happy to post on RC for others to enjoy my journey with my new tank/house :)

As for the magazine most of out inspiration was from home design sites such as Houzz.com. Great site for inspiration.

I used both RC and Houzz to design my home ;)

The tank looks fantastic. Simple, yet elegant

I think most instructions I've read on bio pellets is to start small and gradually introduce more pellets over weeks or even months to prevent the radical change in nutrient levels. I've found too much pellets also promotes cyano. I think overall that really 1/2 to 1/4 of the recommended amount of pellets is more than enough. 200 mls on my 120 gallon, with about 145 gallons of system water, was about just right.
