Determining sex of small gobies

Hi all,

I would really like to have a pair of gobies for my 12 gal nano. Short of buying an already bonded pair, how does one determine sex of these fish and attempt to pair them?

The particular species I have in mind are -

Elacatinus multifasciatum

Stonogobiops nematodes

Elacatinus puncticulatus

I am open to any nano suitable species however.

It seems my #1 choice (E. multifasciatus) exhibits protogynous hermaphroditism, which is what I was hoping for

most folks just add 5 fish, feed well, and they usually end up paired.
