Ding-Dong, The Witch Is Dead!!!

It is with a sense unbridled joy that I can proudly announce that the 6 year reign of terror has finally come to an end: Yes, my Australian Pseudochromis is dead.

Over the years, this little demon was directly responsible for the deaths of several fish by harrassing them until they jumped from the tank...one time, even through eggcrate! It was impossible to catch as it knew the tank like the back of its...well, you know. And because of it, I could never introduce any similarly shaped fish such as fairy wrasse, hogfish, firefish, etc. But that's all changed now!!! Muuahahahaha...Woo-Hoo!!!

So please take a lesson in the penance I have paid: Never put ANYTHING in your tank without first knowing what it is, especially if it's faster (and probably smarter) than you. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got party invitations to send out. See you at the fish store.

That's pretty funny. As embarrassing as it is to know that a fish is capable of outsmarting a person, you have to respect it at least. Dottybacks are both wonderful and frustrating at the same time.

What was the cause of death, out of curiosity?

i kinda had to smile when i lost my mystery wrasse, too. same personnality towards my fairy wrasses. i didnt have him nearly as long as yours.

Congrats. Can't wait to see what's next. :)

LOL - I know just what you mean.

Feisty little guy - may he rest in peace. I know part of you is going to miss him.

What are you going to get? :D

I think just about everybody in this hobby who had been at it long enough has a ding-dong story. Mine was a red coris wrasse and it was a very good day when I finally had him bagged and on his way back to the fish store. Congrats Michael!

He was a beauty though -

64Ivy, your reef is beautiful and b-i-g! I love that hawkfish that answers the door. He looks like he'd really eat pizza if you bought him a teeny-tiny one ;)

Sorry for the late reply, fellas. Got a bit of a 'headache' this morning; feels like Monday back in college. Anyway, the cause of death was unknown. After 6 years, I pretty much knew every one of its behaviors and hideouts so when it simply stopped showing up, I began to wonder. I waited though, because the sucka had raised my hopes a few times before. Then after two weeks, I began to think this was really it. That's when I set myself a deadline (no pun intended) which passed yesterday. No sighting for a month. It's history.

As for what I'm going to get, I really don't know yet. Funny that achillesheel celebrated the loss of his Mystery Wrasse because that was actually one of my choices. I could go anywhere from a trio of fairy wrasse, to a Peppermint Hogfish to a pair of Crosshatches to whatever. Right now, I'm just going to chill and let the right fish come to me this time.

I AM willing to take suggestions though. ;)

Those pseudo's are MEAN!! Had one in a FO with ell, trigger and large angel. Back to the LFS it went. I think they should come with a warning label.

I love my mysteri wrasse but I purposely dont have any others in there that he might not like.
rhomboid wrasse
mysteri wrasse
clkwrk has a group of wrasses. looked cool I might look into that.

LOL! We actually DID have a warning label on the tank when we sold one at the LFS I worked at as a kid :D

64, You have a great lucking setup....besides melev, this is one of the best setup/tanks I have seen. Anyway let me stop brown nosing...lol

The fairy wrasse would be a great species addition.

Do you think your sohal will alow any newcomers? That thing is a beats. I would be afraid to even put my hand in that tank!

Despite the name, Attilla is actually quite mellow...especially for a Sohal. In the past couple years, I've added a Regal Angel, several Anthias, a 1" Flame Hawk, and BOTH of my hands all without a single injury. I really got lucky with him.
