Discussion Thread: Anemone List and Pictures

Taylor, they are wc ocellaris, weirdly they have darkened since I bought them which i had not expected. They have not eaten any tentacles yet. They are fattening up and showing signs of spawning. but my lfs has 3 white bonnets in!
 
I'm still trying to get a handle on carbon dosing and possible effects it might have on red bubble tips. I run pellets and also dose vodka which I have been for the last 10'months.
I just can't keep red bubble tips in my own system. I have a green carpet anemone that is doing well.
I've lost a total of 8 Rbt's.
I maintain 20 other systems loaded with Rbt's which are doing great however i run pellets in them but don't liquid carbon dose
I keep nitrates at 2 and phosphates at .03

Any thoughts?

I also have a large mertens that hosts a pair of onyx percs. I have been noticing small bald spots on the mertens and have been wondering what's happening. Think you may have solved my mystery :)

Here's s couple pics of mine.


I removed all the clowns, but then put a couple back. Only having a few, they don't swim out in the open so much, and stay close to the nems all the time. I put 4 small ones back, originally started with 13. I haven't seen them eat any of the tents yet. Seems they are more skiddish with less, I'm hoping they don't start again.
Here's a close up of the double mouth. Both eat, and poop. It's got a lot of slits around the main mouth that react with food, but only 2 main ones that eat.
 
My ocillaris clowns are really skittish too, so much so that they never leave the nem, not even for food particles. The food has to literally hit them. The male has got even darker too, they are a nice turd brown now!

Are you going to get the White Bonnets?
 
No, they are still there but too expensive for me (8500bht each). They have a pair of Latz coming in on Wednesday but they will be too steep for me as well. I have gone for a new pair of black and white Clarks.
 
I also see some of my Percula rip off the tentacles of my Gigantea also. They quit doing that after a while.

I have a beach house in Puertecitos Baja in the sea of cortez. I have an aquarium of thing only I can find and catch. Cant figure out what this one is. It never opens up big. Any suggestions what it is?

Thanks for reply. Was sold to my cousin as a hadonni? Thought it was a giga as well. It does have a few rows of small bumps on bottom. Here's a closer shot

Wouldn't be nice to put whether they're hardy or not I saw that there's a List from difficult and above but I think some species are very hardy and newcomers friendly.
It'll help not so experienced hobbits choose their first anemone.
 
At first look its look like a sebae anemone but it's a little bleached its have to have a tan color instead of white, does it eat? You shoul feed it once or twice a week to help it recover its zooxantella
