Would like to go and stay in "The Dive Capital of The World". Anyone who has done their final certs after the online portion? I Would love to here your feedback. I like Oceandivers and Keys Diver, have snorkeled with them before. Just got back from a KW trip

There's Still a lot of Magic in Key West! HL mm24

I did my advanced certification with Florida Keys Dive Center. It was many years ago, but I've dove with them many times. I was happy with their service and divemasters.

my wife did her computer course and pool work in upstate ny, then this past summer did her check out dives with Tildens in Marathon. My daughter also got certified with them a few years ago. Both were very happy with the instructors and diving experience with them

When I dive on charter boats in Key Largo, I go out with Captain Slate. They are experienced and the staff is great. The creature feature dive is sweet- they feed sharks and other fish. Haven't done any certs with them though.

Looks like I'm going with FLA KEYS DIVE CTR. Talked with them today, the guy on the phone could have been a little more informative but then again I don't ask much.

I already have my fins, mask, and a dive watch I've used for snorkeling, looking to buy a wetsuit, I'm 6'6 240. Any suggestions on the wetsuit or other basics I could buy now?

Slates' creature feature will be one of the first things I do if not Looe Key, that spot is beautiful even for snorkeling. Thanks - Can't wait

You will be happy with them. They know all the reefs and which ones have the least current and best vis each day. If you doing any Certs ask for Joe. He is good and makes it fun. Get your wet suit and equipment at Divers Direct. They are in the main part of Largo and have everything at a good price. As far as recommendations you have to go with what feels right. Each suit is cut a little different. I would also suggest you pick up a computer. it adds a layer of safety that cant be replaced. You dont need a real expensive one either. You can get a fully functional one for around $300. Have fun!!

Awesome, Thanks slapshot! Divers direct has become my favorite store in the keys to look around in, been there many times. The daily countdown begins.

You will pay double in the keys for classes compared to where you live. Get certified at home and then go down there without having to learn anything. Ive used tildens and abyss in marathon and both are great. Ive also used Lost Reef in Keywest a bunch of times and its a good place. I normally just rent a boat and go diving off it on my own.

Open Water Certified.

Had an excellent time with Florida Keys Dive Center ( FLAKEYS ) I thought the PADI eLearning was great, pool work was good. The 4 dives were instructional and scary at the same time, tropical storm was moving by creating a surge but it made me learn a LOT more about bouyoncy. Mike gave me hands on personalized instruction, couldn't be more impressed or pleased with my expierence there.

Anyone looking to get certified pm me. I'd love to help with advice to these guys or how to look for a good shop. I've learned a lot in the last 4-5 days!

I did my certification with south beach divers. The open water dives were in the keys, I just don't know were. It was some marine sanctuary. One of the dives was to a giant Jesus statue. Everyone there was great.

Spiegel Grove is deep dive. The main deck is at about 90' to 100'. Currents can run very strong at times. I've hung on the mooring lines for safety stops on both the Spiegel Grove and the Duane and felt like a flag flying in a full gale. I've also dove both with little to no current. So that part is real variable. You can get decent dive with Nitrox, just got to pay close attention the MOD for the mix your using so that you don't go too deep and oxtox. Also don't succumb to the temptation to penetrate the lower levels.

Thanks Guys- Hey Bill?

Thanks Guys- Hey Bill?

I'm scheduled to do my AOW with them this weekend. I am in no way "advanced" and wish PADI would change that to something else.

I just want to learn more on PPB and deep before I get into any bad habits. Think my trim was pretty good and felt good after a few reef dives, but I want to work on all that.

Should I be worried these guys are putting me on a deep dive in the first morning of this trip. I feel confident and love getting in... Just wondering if I should be cautious with this dive shop?

I've looked at the markers and hope we can descend, then just check out the deck. I won't let anyone make me follow them into spaces I'm not willing to do yet.
really can't wait just need to get under again!
