Diy led

That rig is sick!

The TBRC group buy helped a lot since they covered the shipping.

110 - 18,000k LEDs @ $1.29 = $141.90 (Still have 10 left)
20 - Royal Blue LEDs @ $2.29 = $45.80 (Still have 10 left)
1 - Power supply (large) @ $39.99
1- Power supply (small) @ $29.99
110 - 60 degree optics @ $.15 = $16.50 (Still have 10 left)
4 - two-part epoxy @ $6.00 = $24 (Still have 1 full kit left)
Heat sink 3" channel = $56
Wire and solder = $24
Total = $378
I'm very happy with the outcome and electricity savings and tank heat savings and color flexibility and not buying new Radiums each year and...........

Wow... How did you get it so cheap?

The LEDs don't have "Cree" in front of them. I've ordered a few more blues and reconfigured my ratio to 2 whites to 1 royal blue. The color is perfect for me and have also extended my photo period. I'm very pleased with the outcome. If I had a decent camera I'd take some pics. Pm me if you want to see the colors yourself.

I know this is the DIY LED thread ,But it cant hurt to ask , I have a 84x24x24 display tank , anyone have the time and interest in making a fixture for my tank for me , i have no issues paying someone for their time. but with three kids and a wife, i have no time and cant afford the amount of factory fixtures required for my tank,,,,,,,,,,,Any interest?

The deal with a DIY is satisfaction of doing it yourself, not just the cost savings...but that helps. If you cannot afford a factory fixture I can't imagine paying someone to make it for you would be cheaper...in fact I would think it would be much more expensive. These are tedious and time consuming to cut, drill, solder, wire and analize once built. Balancing work and family and other hobbyies It took me 3 weeks to build, carving time where I could.
Also, what if it fails in a month, there is no recourse for you. Maybe there's somebody else here that will do it but seems a longshot at best. I'd suggest spending a good amount of time researching and planning your array, gathering the materials and then slowly build your light. Also, is someone is local to you to assist would be best...You've done without it this long right?

That is true ty. I guess once school starts maybe i can start picking up pieces here and there....i have looked around locally and cant find anyone guess ill start and ask a whole lot of question when its time to build.

You mean that gel in the Fedy driver? I wouldn't mess with it, just replace with another disposable driver or reconconfigure to mean wells.

...and just to clarify, I use the Fedy drivers I slammed in the previous post. I consider them inferior to the mean wells but they do work if you keep them cool. Didn't intend to ruffle feathers.

I have been searching around but unable to find information / link for a Driver (preferably dimmable) to run 88 LED's & the wiring to do this.
Can some one please point me to a link.
