Diy led

The LEDs are a minimum of 100 of each color and a minimum or 250 optics. I will be placing an order before long if anyone wants to join with me. Just pm me

I found a neat tool on the Cree website:

You can play around with the parameters and get some cool info. In playing with it for about 5 minutes I learned a few things....that is I think I've learned a few things which are only true if I didn't make any huge mistakes.

I learned:

1 48" T5 HO is about the same lumen as 26-29 Cree LEDs at ~750ma
LEDs put off much more lumen/watt at lower current/voltage
Learned how quickly current drops off with small reduction in voltage

I'm sure there's much more value to the tool than that in the right hands but I'm still very novice.

You have to "register" but I just entered my first name and a valid email address and it worked fine. They will email you a link to the working tool.

Actually I went back and looked at the URL and it seems that maybe you can just go here and use the tool without registering:

However, the other link has a little more infomation about how to use the tool.

Hope it helps!

OK, so i have a few tanks... to be exact i have 2-24gal JBJ Nano Cubes 1-28gal JBJ Nano Cubes and a 55gal(48x13 tall) I want LED's but they are very costly. I have seen some retrofit kits for the JBJ's but even those are costly it seems buying all the parts and building it myself and I know how to build them (Thanks to this thread) now I still need to know what to buy and where to get it. I have seen so much info here and so many different materials (LED's, drivers, & Power Supplies) to use. All my tanks are reef tanks so I will need white and blue LED's and I have seen that some places require a 100 min buy of LED's so that should not be a problem"¦ but I need some direction please Help"¦
Thanks

Is there anyone in the greater brandon/south tampa area that could help me out with my leds? I've got a maxspect 160w unit that will only power the two 30w leds. Nothing else. I've tried rewiring twice and even switching the drivers.
Anyone have any experience with these or what the potential problem might be?

I know the driver works cause I use it on my other fixture (exact same maxspect fixture)..

what details should I post? Not really sure where to look for a problem..

Did any one try add reed and green led tu the lights i thinking tu change from 104 white and 52 RB tu 52 RB-52 Blue-6red,4 green, 42 -20k white vhot you think.

I know Jae and I both added red and I am ordering green as well. Red are very powerful so you dont need many and make sure you can dim them.

When u order can u order me the reds of mine u used please and maybe 2 or 3 green too?

Roger

Not sure what you are saying. I ordered my 6 red leds with and from Jae and picked them up when they arived. I am ordering the green from rapid leds. Please pm me if you want some

Yes sorry forget about it. I had a brain laps on who I was talking to. Lol jae was who I was meaning to talk to. My mistake. I'm getting old fast I guess. Lol

Was just joking with jae was all but was wrong person.

Roger

The 6 red and 4 green cona be on 1 dim driver i hoppe is cona help the tank i cona post pics aftere everthing is done.

i need find some driver fore dimmable for 9 led vhot use 5or 10 v suplies conect tu me typhon controler any ideas.

Can one mix in a few reds on the same drivers with their Whites and RBs? I would think you would just have to make sure they are rated for the same current rating...

The ones i gething is 700ma like rest off me led i con use same driver both i beter puth them on new driver and dimm them .

If your 65 gallon is standard at 36x18 it is 648 sq ins. I would use a maximum of 54 FEDY LEDs at a 2 white to 1 Royal Blue ratio. If you use Crees, your on your own and will need to find someone more familar than I on them.

Also, I would use the MeanWell drivers if I was starting a build today. They are predictable, well built driver that gives you the option to dim them. (very handy when acclimating your tank to LEDs).

Hope this helps, but you're only scratching the surface of LED technology here...My set up is on page 32 if interested to gander.

I just powered up a 36 X 18 tnk wi6th32 Cree LED's and have decided to cut them back to just 24. These Cree's are much brighter than several of the Comercuial Light fixtures also claiming to be running 3 Watt LED's. In my mind there is no comparison., unless they are running 3 watt LED's are very reduced watage like 1 Watt LED's.

56 Cree's would be like a Flood light up close and probably burn everything in my tank in a couple days.
