Dmorty217's 625 Build Thread

Derek, I went with MarsAqua 300wtters on my tank. They are great, cheap, and light kharay tank up all the way down at the bottom. I have them 14" off the surface and at 43" deep the clams on the bottom have been great for 2 months now and I began to bleach some lps. My mid level sps have been fine and haven't lost any color at all.

I have actually been looking at those. How many of them do you have? How many do you think I need, 4?

I have the same cheap Chinese 165 watt dimmable LEDs on our frag tank (60x36x16").

Apparently you can open them up and pry the lens off to get 120 degree optics, which should cover a lot more area.

I haven't tried it yet...

You can see the one ebay model I got years ago in the picture with just the blues and whites... I'm looking for something that will cover more area that way I don't have 10 fixtures hanging above my tank!

Going full force now. But still think I have another 4 months. Jonathan been working hard. Still plumbing and electrical. I just ordered the lights waiting on them. Sump room drains and pumps and computer system going. Chillers are half installed. Boilers for heating water also getting installed. Boring tedious expensive work. Dehumid systems also it's all happening in parts of house not lived in yet so it's ok.

Boilers and chillers the size of outdoor units... That's just crazy talk, expensive I have no doubt! What kind of lights are you using?

Halide up stairs and 12 giant 500 watt maxspects distributors coralvue in big tank

Were those the giant ones that were at MACNA sitting at their booth? Funny how they will sell you whatever you want but I ask and they look at me like I'm cross eyed! Wanted them to build me one of the gyre 200s they had at MACNA without 3D printed impellers. I got some contact info but have got no where with it. Looking forward to seeing the monstrosity of tanks you have in full swing!

Also trying to get them to change tweak location of ballast on lights to prevent back burn when crawling on cat walk above tank

How is that going? I found that emailing with the guys from China at MACNA has proved difficult...Something you can do or have someone do? Back burn would be unacceptable to say the least!

Derek, I'd use 4 with your tank. And yes, they are easy to pop the lense off. I changed out the green some reds, and a few 4500k whites for 14k, 10k and some uv. It well terribly easy to do.

Raise yours up to 12" above the water, no reflectors and you will get plenty of light.

Think I will go that route. They aren't expensive and I have read good stuff about them.

ok just getting caught up (been "out of the loop" for about 8 months) will be following congrads very cool tank

Tank is cycled now with nitrates at 3 with a seachem test kit... Will be adding some fish that have been through chloroquine and sat in QT for the past 3 months so wish me luck that they go in and nothing "shows" up on them in the next 3 weeks or so. I'm paranoid about the 625g possibly having something in it... Only one way to find out.
