Does anyone have pics of "LE" polyps?

No prob, i was just browsing and i saw this had LE in the title so i figured you'd want to see it. As far as them not actually being rare; many of his i've never seen for sale but i dont have much experience yet and i dont doubt that hes completely full of it. I'm sure with some patience i'll eventually see some of these in my LFS or maybe in my tank from color morphing. You like how in the description of every zoanthid hes selling it says 'these normally sell for $65 per polyp'?? :D i thought that was funny.

Sounds like most people that have sounded off and have been around for a while feel roughly the same. Down here (Montgomery, Al), not many people seem to know much about named corals, or are just starting to see them. If I sell anything, it is by pictures because people tend to look at me funny when I start spouting out seemingly random letters (PPE, GPE, GSDPE, SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS, and such). I'll either give a name if the person knows what I'm talking about, or just say it's got some cool colors, etc., if they don't. Even in larger reefing communities like Nashville (nothing huge, but from what I've experienced here, worlds larger as a community), many didn't start talking about or looking for the higher priced zoas until about 2 years ago or so. Frags running 10-15 polyps for $10 were the norm for a good while. Anything more than that was questionable. Of course, before long, trading of the more expensive zoas gets a little bit of everything to anyone that wants it;).

Just found this one.... Great thread.

Seems to say it all from even back in the day!:D

Wow.... I wish I was in this hobby in my teens......;)

I saw this back in 08 and it still disturbs me.

I'm just glad we were able to dispel the myth that LE doesn't exist. Unless of course they are..Hassel palys :wavehand:

im gonna go check the for sale section and see if anybody is selling LE's and laugh at them...of course i wont post anything or i will get more infractions lol

just checked, theres 5 LE postings in the last couple days lol, also i had a question, how does a couple polyps on a frag plug constitute a colony of zoas? Whats a rock with 200 polyps on it called? The mother ship? (said like on the movie "i now pronounce you chuck and larry" when theyre in the store buying gay stuff)

It's not, who said it was?

Whats a rock with 200 polyps on it called?

A gold mine, or, 200 potential 1 polyp frags.

There are places out there that still sell zoas at reasonable prices. I can think of one right now selling colonies for less than $1 per polyp. You just need to know where to look.

That statement makes me chuckle:D and nothing against aloha man/woman

OHH I miss the days when polyps were sold as a whole and not by the polyp! I did find a very rare buttkiss polyp at a local LFS, it was brown......but very, very rare and LE!!
My wife wants me to pick up a few Hasselpaly colonies after seeing that sexy combo. If anyone has a frag of them without the sunglasses please PM me
good luck everyone!
PL

i know people are just using the "LE" term to drive up prices.......but there are some LE paly's out there. The pink elephant for starters. I got mine from steve right before he put them on his LE list.
