( there is also a small piece that broke off behind it, you can see)

Your sps will grow under the t5's. Keep taking pictures and comparing them and you will see that they are growing much more than you think.

really wanting someone to disprove the halides. if you wouldn't mind post specs of the tank and equitment so we know how long and under what conditions the sps's are growing

This should be interesting to watch. Could you also post water parameters as frequently as you test or pictures are posted.
Really cool to see what happens with this one.
Sanjay will be speaking about LED's at the SRC event perhaps Q&A will wrupt vs. T5's as well.

They grow alright under mine- i am soon going to 2 03 actinics and 2 daylights instead of 2, 1 and an inbetween 4th bulb. From 2 months ago I have a pink mille encrusting over my epoxy - they should do fine in your tank ryan!

There are many tanks on RC under just T-5 lighting, doing a great job with SPS.
What pump is on your Coralife 125???

Hey Ryan,
IME, I have had both growth and color go crazy under my t5's. I even have hard to keep wild caught Acros showing growth, vitality, and rich color. I simply laugh when someone posts that you can't keep SPS under t5's. Here is a few recent pics of my SPS tank under t5's.....Thanks....

Ryan, I think this is an excellent idea!!! I am doing the same under my Solaris to see what will and won't do well under LED's. I'll be watching for updates!!! GL!

Thanks Me No Nemo,
I cannot wait until I get over to your side of town, I have heard such great things about you.....

Marcye is great.....:), But Pyle02... is that a TEK fixture? and if it is is it the 6 or 4 bulb?...i also have a 75, and a 4 bulb TEK....

Seth,
I am using the Tek 6 lamp fixture. It is great, I really do think I could achieve the same results with 4 lamps though. I have to keep raising the fixture, tons of light....LOL

you do? how high from the top of the water do you keep yours? me, about 4-5"...is that ok?

my capricornis for some reason got this milky white haze over the top of it, and it blew off when i moved my hand by it, but what was that, the piece i had lower than that one didnt have it, so i moved it to the bottom, and it doesnt have it anymore, was that good thing or a bad thing? all of my other SPS and LPS are doing GREAT, my digitata is growing already, i can see it!!(kinda...lol)

My advice with SPS, is to always start low, and work them up into the reef to light acclimate. I think alot of people underestimate the intensity of t5's. As for your height, seems kinda standard, I raised to 6", only because I have no acrylic lens or glass covers. It also depends on water quality, the cleaner your water, the more penetration of light. I have worked so hard on water quality, that now I have to raise my lights to accomadate. JME......

i have some bad news,

I belive my tricolor monti digi rtn'd on me. it began to lose its color and has lost all the green and most purple and so has the SMALL frag of blue tort. IDK why they deid becuase i know digis are less light demanding than acropora and i have acropora and have nticed great growth! I think i might have placed it too high and burned it. i put it like 3/4 of the way up. The bleached acro i bought is now a dark brown and the green formosa is now like a light pink briwn with growth. Do you guys think it was rtn?
