Dreaded Ich

i had good luck getting my mandarin to switch from live to Arctic pods (reefnutrition) which the fish also love, now she eats mysis frozen and all kinds of other stuff.

Good to hear the rest of the tank is doing well.

I added that reef nutrition....wasn't the arcti pods...but some other name that slips my mind, and I guess now it is finally taking off!

So after careful consideration and fish dying off, I raised the salinity over a few days and put the fish back into the main tank.

However, I wish i would have known, but I bought a cleaner shrimp today, through very helpful advice from a fellow reefer here on RC, that they actually pick the parasites off the fish for them. As we speak, the Sailfin is beside the shrimp and he is picking at him. I also heard the neon Gobies also eat these parasites as well. I will purchase some as soon as I can get my hands on them.

I also hooked up a 15 watt UV sterilizer I purchased today.

The fish are colorful and seem much happier being Home. I believe the quarantine was hard on them, thus losing 2 fish to it.

Thanks for everyone's advice and I am trying the best I can to help these guys make it through this.

There as so many fish that will clean other fish but whatever you do do not buy a clearner wrasse, parasites are all they feed on and will dye in most all tanks, my 2c i would stay away from neon gobies just for the fact that every one that I have kept has always ended up in my sump and after playing the find the goby in the sump about ten million times I gave up and left it in there, of course it found its own way back into the main tank through the pump. I miss playing find the goby in the sump.

Haha....that sounds like a nice treasure hunt!

I heard about the cleaner wrasse's today...I agree with you on that idea.

Well if the goby can get past my sponge filter in my overflow then he can stay wherever he wants!

This Sailfin is bugging the hell out of this shrimp...he stays in front of him!
