Echoreef 250 Entry Way

Wow, sweet setup! Did you say you have a bandit angel as well? Did you QT your fish? If so what procedure did you use?

Thanks :)

I QT most of the fish. The 2 exceptions in my tank are the emperor angel and flame angel. I got both of these from local reefers who are very experienced. I put them in directly to the DT with no issue.

For QT, I have been using a 30 gallon tank with HOB filter and a sponge filter. I run a pump in there for water flow. Observe the fish for a week to make sure they are eating. Then start a week of cupramine for copper treatment. Then a week on prazipro. So the total time is anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks. I learned my lesson the hard way a few years back when my fish had ich. Removed all of them and left the DT fishless for 2 months. It's a pain to go through.

This is a very impressive looking build. I've never heard of the Genesis Renew before. Looks pretty nice. How do you like it? And is it easy to set up?

The setup is super easy as long as you have room to hang the 2 metering resevoir above the water level of your sump. For me it helps that I have a wall between the DT and the water mixing station. The equipment in this hobby is super expensive but I think that the Genesis Renew is one of the best investment I have made for my reef system. For me to go from a 120 to 250, I have to automate as much as possible. The Genesis Renew along with Apex allow me to do that. Once everything is up and running it should be less work than my 120.

Sweet build. I love the light fixture...I've had my eye on that for quite some time. Too big for my current tank but would work great for the futures upgrade I've been planning. Glad to see you like it.

Do you have a mat under your pump? If so what type is it.

It's not a mat. The black piece at the bottom of the stand is a custom build acrylic pan. It has saved me a few times already with the dripping return pump and small water spills. On top of that I have added 2 leak detection sensors. If there is water detected, the return pump, skimmer, ATO will shutoff automatically. Below is a picture of the tray before it's put into the stand.

The ghost overflow has been working out well. I am using a Reeflo Super Dart pushing about 3000 GPH. The overflow is 24" long. The inside foot print is only a little more than 1". It's barely noticeable. The external box is 4 1/2" wide. It's perfect for my hallway since anything wider will not fit. I use a bean animal overflow. It's very quiet. There's more noise from water tricking into the filter socks from the oxygen tower than from the drain pipes themselves.

Looking good! I see the black pan that is underneath you sump but it looks like there is a blue pad underneath your reeflo pump.

That's correct. I use sound dampening pads I got from bulkreefsupply to lessen the noise from contact between the pump and the acrylic pan.

Here are some pictures of the corals that have been posted in the Pacific Sun Hyperion Pandora S Fanclub thread . Should be nice once they grow out and color up more.
