Work up this morning with excitement, as today is the day I start working on my aquascape…

Quickly eat a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast and started to check the plumbing, tank, sump for any sign of water leak as last night I place some tissue paper wrapped around suspicious areas.

No more leaks were found (hurrrrrey….. doing the victory dance here) so I drained the tank and started my preparation for the exciting task ahead. Not sure what I need so I have everything on standby…..

Everyone makes different preparation when it comes to aquascape and here’s mine…

Not sure what I will use at this moment so I prepared for every possibility.

And to share with you all my most important tool for success….

AQUASCAPING – Part II

AQUASCAPING â€"œ Part II

Before I started on the aquascaping, I position my 3 Streams…

Aquascaping05.jpg

Then in order to hide those unsightly cables of the Stream, I had to remove the end connector as it too large to go in my 32mm pipe.

You can see there is a total of 5 different color wires connected to the connector.

The way I see it, I have 2 options…..

Option 1: Unsolder the wires inside so that the cables can run down via the 32mm PVC tube I created inside the overflow and re-solder back at the end…

Option 2: Cut the cables and rejoined them back at the end with a separated connector for easy dismantling.

I went for Option 2 as this allows me to remove the pumps easy for general cleaning and maintenance by simple unplug the connector.

These cables will come out at the bottom of the tank and it’s a simple job of connecting it to a connector and the rest is easy…

Pretty nifty huh?? (make sure Roger is not reading this thread lol)

Cautious: Doing this will void your pump warranty so you decided for yourself if it’s worth the risk. This only works for the newer stream model (6101 and above) as the older models (6100) have a different set-up for the cables…

Look at his attention to detail. Great job Ed. Look at your thread make me feel bad :D

Make u feel bad??? Why?? Cause I got smaller wave than u and uses less pumps?? :D

You got the FIRST CLASS of reefing equipments in your tank man and most reefers can only dream of!!

OT- hope you fix the issues on your light bulb/ holder :( That sucks

AQUASCAPING – Part III

AQUASCAPING â€"œ Part III

OK, finally found my card reader so here goes….

To start off…this is what I envision for the scape inside the tank

AquascapingEnvision.png

After a couple of hours of back breaking, I manage to get something I like…..

Aquascaping26.jpg

Aquascaping18.jpg

Overall I’m quite please that I still manage to get some overhangs and caves in such a shallow tank and keep the rocks to the min and maintain the openness of the tank….

and for those who’s wondering - YES I did the aquascape alone…… (no aquascape guy in the hotel lol)

:artist:

The SSB is about 3cm deep…..

Scape is NOT 100% COMPLETED yet as I still need to do the upper section (above water) once I get the tank running as normal and might need to make some minor adjustments accordingly as the top and bottom scape have to somehow seem like a seamless whole piece of mountain.

Btw, I used KZ Speed Glue to glue sections of the rockwork together for easy removal of my Stream rocks. :lol2:

So?? Comments on the aquascape guys??

Legit, Ed, looks great! :D

When you say you need to do above water, you mean like a tide pool @ low tide?

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Do we get a RC discount if we come over and stay in your hotel?

Been lurking, on the old thread too, and I am speechless. You da Man!

I like your design Ed from the old and to the new tank. Your imagination is awesome..

As for the light, if i have to book a ticket to Canada to get my light fix i will...

I dig it and plan on something similar in my new tank as well. what's the plan for the other portion of scaping? I always liked the Amano fresh water planted fish tanks that have some drift wood protruding from the tank. It would be cool to see a salt tank with the same type of design.
