I like the way it looks, but when your Tunze need to be cleaned are do you have to remove all live rock around the overflow to get them out? If so that may be a real pain.

Legit, Ed, looks great! :D

When you say you need to do above water, you mean like a tide pool @ low tide?

Planning to build an island on top the overflow so that the overflow is totally hidden :D

I like your design Ed from the old and to the new tank. Your imagination is awesome..

As for the light, if i have to book a ticket to Canada to get my light fix i will...

Glad you like it Steve.

This is what happens when you sit for weeks in a hospital bed with nothing else better to do than to think of your next build.

:D

I dig it and plan on something similar in my new tank as well. what's the plan for the other portion of scaping? I always liked the Amano fresh water planted fish tanks that have some drift wood protruding from the tank. It would be cool to see a salt tank with the same type of design.

Well the original idea was to used reef bones (in replacement of drift woods) and let it come out of the water but can't find long/ large reef bones here :mad2:

The plan for the top is to build an island over the overflow to ahve it completely hidden..... :eek2:

At this moment not sure how I'm going to do that yet??

Thanks IBASSFSH - Cleaning obviously will be more work but actually not too bad.

If you look at the left side rock, it only have 2 pieces of LR on top (which is glue together as a whole piece) and the center rock also have only 2 rocks on top (also glue) where the right side rock has only 1 piece of rock on top (not glue)

Obviously once the corals start to encrust, it will be more painful but planning to place encrusting monties on those top level only for easy removal.

To have the pumps hidden vs. 6 months schedule cleaning, I think I should be able to manage

:D

Once again, great Job on the aquascape work, love that open look. jr

Thanks jr. - Glad you like it

I must say it was not easy to scape a shallow tank..... it only took me 5 times to scape and rescape :p

In a shallow scape, it's just too easy to make things look like a pile of rocks :eek2:

However in my determination to keep an open space, I redo and redo and redo and redo until I felt it was acceptable :D

OMG!
This is really a piece of art, great job ED.
I really like all the open space, if I were you i should choose carefully the fishes, with all this space tangs would be my first guess, i would overstock a tank like yours in a matter of hours hehehehhehehehehehhehehe
Keep us speechless with your updates!
Best wishes!

Ed, we just used some of the KZ speedglue on some rock today. Seems to work ok. Still getting the finishing touches done.

Your scape looks good. You are really going for that open aquascape look. I like that alot! I'm not a fan of big clunky rock in the middle of the tank! It really takes way from the display.

Maybe a few shelves off the side of the overflow for SPS would be nice. We used quite a few in Tim's.

Very nice. Im definitely subscribed!

Your old peninsula definitely inspired my aquascape, Im sure the new one will look just as nice.

Yeah, Baby!! Great rockwork Ed

Like SuperR, so I'm thinking about a rock ledge cantivered off the overflow weir about 50% of the way down ... the weir looks like it is part of the supporting structure, you know what I'm sayin'

Does that KZ glue work under water?

Looks AWESOME Ed,
I have to agree with SuperR and tonyf,
:QUOTE:
some nice rock ledge cantivered or a few shelves off the side of the overflow for SPS would be nice.

you, once again never cease to amaze us with your wonderful work.
