Ed Reef’s Shallow Crest Inspired ART

I like it a lot Ed! Your "art of aquascaping" makes the tank look bigger (especially taller) than it really is.

BTW what kind of speaker is that in the background? I'd have guessed B&W but don't recognize the box. Looks like you have more than one expensive hobby.

Ed, even though you have glued the other rocks together, so you can remove the Tunzes, do you think it'll still be a problem, or at least an inconvenience? Im assuming corals will be growing on the upper rocks, and you will have to move those ~1 time a month to clean the Tunzes. Fortunately its real open, so you can just move it down to the floor, but it may be a little stressful? Thats the only negative I can imagine, and it really might not be that big of a deal. It does look terrific.

Ed, just came back from a computer melt-down, and of course I missed EVERYTHING! You move to fast for words, and it looks amazing! I hope I will have half of your success!

Great rock scape! Although, I share similar concerns with servicing the streams. Seems like a pain waiting to happen once you have substantial SPS growth.

OMG!
This is really a piece of art, great job ED.
I really like all the open space, if I were you i should choose carefully the fishes, with all this space tangs would be my first guess, i would overstock a tank like yours in a matter of hours hehehehhehehehehehhehehe
Keep us speechless with your updates!
Best wishes!

Thanks Felipe - was thinking lots and lots of gobies and maybe schooling anthias for fishes and maybe 2-3 Tangs...

Love wrasse so might try one or two but worry about them surfing the carpet??

Ed, we just used some of the KZ speedglue on some rock today. Seems to work ok. Still getting the finishing touches done.

Yeah KZ Super Glue works great for sticking rocks as they are like cement. However make sure the putty is thick like plasticine for it to work well.

Your scape looks good. You are really going for that open aquascape look. I like that alot! I'm not a fan of big clunky rock in the middle of the tank! It really takes way from the display.

Maybe a few shelves off the side of the overflow for SPS would be nice. We used quite a few in Tim's.

Yeah agree some shelves would be good but trust me, I tried. Difficult to get many shelves when you got only about 35cm (13.7") to work with and try to make it look proportionate :D

Once the top island is completed, it should look stemless (hopefully) :rolleye1: and the center overflow will look less like a pillar.....

Ed, that looks terrific. Makes me regret the 225, and want a shallower tank LOL. Great job.

Don't be as your tank is of great dimension and can do wonders for aquascape...!!

Mine is slightly different as I want my main view to be the 5th view (top view) so the openness of the sandy surface will help. :p

Very nice. Im definitely subscribed!

Your old peninsula definitely inspired my aquascape, Im sure the new one will look just as nice.

Thanks for your vote of confidence and welcome to my new build thread :p

Yeah, Baby!! Great rockwork Ed

Like SuperR, so I'm thinking about a rock ledge cantivered off the overflow weir about 50% of the way down ... the weir looks like it is part of the supporting structure, you know what I'm sayin'

Thanks tone - would love to have more ledges over the overflow but not easy being so shallow :eek2:

Will be hoping once the top Island is in place, it will make the overall look more proportionate

Does that KZ glue work under water?

I find it better to used out of water :p Never have any success of trying to used it under water - eventhou the instruction claims it can be!!

Inside water I prefer to used my trusty D&D putty :D

love the aquascape, very nice and open!

but why is the sand so brown?

Thanks - I'm using KZ sand. The sand is wet so it looks a little brown. :p

Looks AWESOME Ed,
I have to agree with SuperR and tonyf,
:QUOTE:
some nice rock ledge cantivered or a few shelves off the side of the overflow for SPS would be nice.

you, once again never cease to amaze us with your wonderful work.

Thanks Sandy for your kind words.... agree some ledges will be nice!! :p

Looks great Ed. I was wondering how you were planning on getting the streams out. Makes sense now.

Well it's defiantly more inconvenience to take em out but made it still possible... good thing with shallow tank is it makes removal of rocks easy :D

Great rock layout Ed! I like your low profile islands and the wide open center. Should be great.

Thanks Tim :D - now WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE YOUR SCAPE MAN??
