Post it bro. Would love to see it.

OK...fresh off the CF card :D

She is not a good photographer and it's much nicer if you see it in person but you get the idea on her tank.

You can see in the next picture all her pumps is hidden behind the false wall so no visible pumps inside tank.

Also make cleaning the back much easier...

This tank been up and running for 1.5 months now.... amazing how fast you can stock up a small tank

Ed - i may have been inspired by your aquascape! I was planning on a more open set up, with more LR in my sump, but was unsure how to do it, i may take some cues from yours!

Ed, thanks for posting the pics. I see how well the pumps are hidden and it looks nice! It has just given me an idea too for my tank.

Ed just finished reading all pages of your thread. was so fascinated with this thread that I ended up saving the pages to read them while on flight...
Admire the perfection in your tank, kinda make me regret many things in my built which I'll be working hard on fixing soon...
One question though isn't the 3 streams + CL + return way too much overkill for this tank not to add the 3 Vortechs? even with the tank full do you see yourself using those? As I'm sure these will rip the skin off some corals!!!
I share your problems with the voltage and frequency difference as I live in Lebanon wher we have 220 V and 50 HZ and realize how difficult it is to get quality equipment. Still I got a Hurricone skimmer when in the states 2 months ago and my 220V pump did not ship in time so I ended up using the 110 V LAgune pump that came with the skimmer and it's been fine since coupld of weeks. I tried it when there and believe performance is not affected when I compared it here... Also have a seio 110V 60 hz running on 220V 50 Hz since 14 months now with no prob...
Anyway great build thread and I'm sure it's only a matter of time for yo uto get thread and tank of the month

Glad you're inspired with the 'open look'.....

Post here your tank dimension and we will see what we can come out with...

I'm trying to find some time to post some tips on aquascaping hopefully in coming weeks for those who is interested as I realize there is not much write-up on aquascaping....!!

SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS:

Day 1:
• Zeovite: 1.8L (max flow rate of 720 l/h â€"œ on/off every 3 hours) â€"œ exchange out every 6-8 weeks
• ZeoStart2: 72ml daily
• ZeoBac: 36 ml daily
• Sponge Power: 21.6ml daily

wow thats a lot of zeovit lol. After the initial cycle of your tank how much zeostart and bac do you plan on dosing? Im only doing 2 drops per day of all of them.

its a standard 120. 4 x 2 x 2. originally i was going to go with just two short islands. but i mean, thats what everyone does for the open idea. it has two rear overflows and will be viewable from both ends and the front.

The 3 x MP40w, wavebox and 1 x 6201 is left overs from my old 295-g tank so doubt I will be using them but I'm just saying, if someone thinks flow is an issue, I can always whipped those out from the storage

:D

In general you can still used the 110v pumps on 230v with a step-up transformer but accordingly to Roger in Tunze it will shorten the life cycle of the pump :eek2:

Not really bother by those recognition as I'm here for the fun of it.... :D

Well, after the 14 day cycle, I should be on a Start2 0.65ml x 2x/day and bac 7 drops 2x/week

and as the tank progress towards ULNS, the dosing should get less...

:D

Two island sound good but maybe one island slightly larger/ higher than the other to give it the contrast

Don't make both island of equal size/ proportion as it will look unnatural. Also make the larger island towards the back and the smaller island towards the front for depth :smokin:

Ed, any progress on the overflow cap stone? I can't say I've ever wanted to do a shallow reef, but adding the rock protruding from the water to cover the overflow sounds like an awesome touch.
The only real problem I see in your 5th view is surface turbulence....:D

Sadly I haven;'t spend much time in that area yet as I was too busy getting the tank up and running....

But I got a couple of ideas in my head so will get to it :p

True on the 5th view being surface turbulence but it's a simple 'flick of a switch' to off em pumps or reduce flow whenever I want to impress someone on the 5th view

:D

thanks ed! what about sand? i plan on say two inches in the DT. I already have one mp40w and would like to add another when funds allow. What would be good for high flow but ok for sand sifting gobies. I love how clean they keep the sand!

Ed, sorry if I missed it but does the po4 syringe have gfo in it or does it drip into a media bag w/ gfo in it? How does that work?

I think 2-3mm size sand will be a good choice :D

Yes, I place the gfo in a media bag and the media bag is then place inside the syringe....

Will take a picture tonight and share.

Don't want anyone to misunderstood and place the gfo media directly into the syringe as it will get clog up and make life difficult to clean/ replace the media

:p

Btw, 2 drops of each sound excessive for your tank?? Unless you're having another tank which is not part of your signature??
